Re: A complete 2000 lines of code engine

Can I ask what the present number of line the code is now? Would be interesting to see if it can still do well without going over 2000 lines or if 2000 is a number that hurts progress significantly.

Re: Stockfish vs. Lc0: IMHO disappointing result for Lc0

You have to realize that GPU graphic cards that have the ability to do AI are in the first generation. So if you look at CPU power, this would be sort of like running SF using a single core 386 CPU. Of course a GPU card like 2080Ti is expensive today, but so was a 386 when it first came out. My gues...

Re: Where are the funs of Leela?

Can someone fix or edit the "Where are the funs of Leela". I think the person meant to write "fans" rather than "funs". Is it possible to edit your titles after posting?

Interesting results in Sufi champions bonus match!

I was checking the TCEC website https://tcec.chessdom.com/ and they had a bonus match where they put all the winners of previous Sufis against each other. Was interesting that top engines at the moment were the SF previous winners of Sufi 11,12,13,14 where in places 1 to 4. SF that won in Sufi 13 an...

Re: The Mac Pro is back - finally

Apple always charges about 3 x what you can get with similar hardware and that seems to be about right with this new Mac desktop. All the specs seem impressive but 28 cores ... I don't know but for such a machine that might become outdated as 64 cores might soon become the norm for that type of hard...

New Google Open Source Tensor Library

I guess with all the new NN engines things might become easier with the availability of opens source library to program Tensor cores more efficiently. https://ai.googleblog.com/2019/06/introducing-tensornetwork-open-source.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+blogspot/gJZg+(...

Re: StockFish made a great comeback vs LCO at the End.

Sounds very much like MC ... which is nothing new. For sure SF will have to do something to compete with Lc0, but to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if a new version of SF can gain from some type of NN or MC search and keep its clearly superior part of its play. But then again Lc0 can also use its...

Re: Stockfish Beats LC0 to Win 2019 Chess.com Tourney

There is still a lot of easily accessible low lying fruit with regards to Lc0. Lot of areas that can be improved and it is just a matter of time before that happens. Time management is something that needs a serious look with regards to the version that is playing at TCEC and that probably cost Lc0 ...

Re: TCEC S15, END of an ERA event is much more Brutal than I thought!

AB still have a place in chess ... they are the best calculators and usually will give you a sane opinion on a position. With NN engines it is still not there ... you really are never sure whether a +2.00 is an advantage or not. NN engines will need time to develop and in some positions they are now...

Re: Amd graphic cards for Leela

I think a lot has to do with coding Leela to take advantage of AMD cards. At the moment the code is optimized for Nvidia GPU's but that could change if someone feels there is an advantage to be gained with AMD cards.
