Re: Bluefish vs Leela in TCEC , who will win? BF =170 Threads, Lc0 =2x GPU

Are you serious ???? Aesthetic ???? Playing on for a 100 moves when a mate in 12 is there is not aesthetics! An engine is an analysis tool that is supposed to help us analyze a chess position so that we can train and learn from it. This really makes Lc0 useless to analyze as a stand alone engine an...

Re: Bluefish vs Leela in TCEC , who will win? BF =170 Threads, Lc0 =2x GPU

What on earth is going on in the second game that Lc0 won ???? I thought trolling play was fixed with the latest net???!!!! There must have been at least a 50 move shorter win! Also this under promoting thing has to get fixed ... really annoying to see an alien like strong engine play these silly m...

Re: Dual RTX 2060 for Leela

I installed two RTX 2060 (Gigabyte Windforce OC) into my Ryzen7 1800x 8x4000 MHz PC and I made some tests. I used Leela version 0.21.1 for tests. 1. test: Net 11250 1a. test: Default parameters GPU1 setoption name backend value cudnn-fp16 go nodes 1000000 Result: max nps = 22533 (depth 10 time 1540...

Re: A complete 2000 lines of code engine

I guess if anything ... this shows the importance of bug free code in a chess program. I think the first to show that was Fruit. While it is nice to have many features and many minor little tweaks to get the program to play "proper" chess ... bugs are the Achilles Heel of any chess program. Each add...

Re: Playing the endgame like a boss !!

The problem with that is that when you do not know how to convert 'certain wins', they suddenly become a lot less certain... Your statement also bypasses the fact that win probabilities as determined by the NN are not infinitely accurate, but are necessarily polluted by a great deal of noise. So in...

Re: Playing the endgame like a boss !!

The sad truth is that there are just way too many games like that with Lc0 and while in this case the end result was still a win for Lc0 … on many occasions there is a draw or even a loss, in what was a winning position. It is behaviour like this that makes Lc0 useless as a stand alone chess engine ...

Re: Draws with Knight odds are possible against a top GM?

I think if you wanted to create a network for Lc0 that plays really well at Knight odds is to train it to play without the Knight. I think it will very quickly figure out the best chances in the position and play much stronger than if it was simply playing with a network trained on the normal start ...

Re: Lc0 GPU load

I think throttling of the GPU was the cause of a few lost points for Lc0 in TCEC 14. There were a few moves that simply made no sense and I was using the same network with similar hardware. It might actually make sense to have some sort of water cooling for the GPU's.
