It's not about eng-eng matches it's about systematic tuning where one needs sound statistical criteria and possibility to play sufficient number of matches. That was not available before mid 2000's. And that's precisely why first Fruit and than Rybka was ...

Re: New chess rig

I already have a RTX 2080Ti card and 1200 watt PS and a box able to handle extended ATX motherboards and of course a good monitor. Basically I went with the following 1. Threadripper 3970x 2. Never mind wrong score read. Is there a working version of this engine that we can try out on Fritz 14 GUI where it works properly without any editing?

Re: The next revolution in computer chess?
To be honest this all makes sense. I mean humans are just horrible at tactics and for sure will over look many moves as they are simply a tactical minefield. Just one misstep and it is an immediate loss. With engines complicated tactics are just simple parts of the game and so they can accept moves ...

Re: TCEC is testing wrong and this is why ........................
TCEC is not really testing the strongest engine but is looking for an exciting and entertaining event. Most people on this forum realize that. I enjoy watching TCEC as many of the openings are designed to get an engine out of its comfort zone. Of course at times it favors one engine over the other. ...

Re: Stockfish 210720 with NNUE
Actually I had something really weird happen with the CB GUI ... finally one of the engines seemed to load without any exception errors ... but then the evaluation kept showing 0.00 in positions where it is obviously a huge advantage for one side ... then when mate shows up it shows a mate score (I ...

Is this working with the CB GUI? I seem to get an exception error when I try and load the engine.

Black side was basically playing without a Queen but didn't realize it while white side did. Interesting game and clearly shows a case where bean counting fails against AI.

Re: Can the sardine! NNUE clobbers SF.
Is this any different than Rybka using millions of super fast games to tune the evaluation many years back? Obviously with GPU hardware this can be done dramatically more efficiently!
