Re: Syzygy EGTB's via Torrent Thread

For those who are going to download the 6men set, and already have 3-4-5. The client will create a folder called syzygy6. If you move the 3-4-5 files into that folder and restart the torrent client, it'll look at them and mark them as downloaded and will start feeding the rest of the swarm while yo...

Re: Syzygy EGTB's via Torrent Thread

Actually this makes me very happy. Looked like someone was starting to grab the file but noticed no upload on my end. So the "web seeding" is working! Nice work, Josh! I downloaded the 3-4-5 set smoothly (even though I already generated it before). If you accept suggestions, I suggest to remove the...

Re: New 6-piece tablebases

Josh, that would be very nice. I prefer a torrent rather than http so that others (like myself) can contribute. 151 GB is a lot to host by yourself. http://oics.olympuschess.com/tracker/index.php This is my first time really doing this. But willing to give it a try. Creating a torrent file now of t...

Re: New 6-piece tablebases

Ronald, are you interested in setting up any centralized distribution for these tablebases? E.g., a torrent, for those who can't (or don't want to) generate them? I could contribute bandwidth or perhaps host the tracker. (Actually anyone other than Ronald is also welcome to comment / participate). ...

Re: New 6-piece tablebases

I finally had the time to try your generator. I could build the 3-4-5 piece tablebases without problems, and all checksums matched yours. However "rtbgen" crashes every time I try to build any 6-piece tablebase - both standalone and via "run.pl". It crashes instantly with no useful diagnostics. 0 [...

Re: Contempt and the ELO model.

Standard contempt (changing the draw score) is supposed to make an engine play better against weaker engines and worse against stronger engines. If(!) this is true then it is clearly impossible within the standard logistic elo model. Question: is there a mathematically nice way of upgrading the elo...

Re: New 6-piece tablebases

hi Ahmed- wow that's some significant processing power... i notice you are credited on Houdini's web page: "The Houdini 3 development was greatly aided by the kind support of Mr. Ahmed Mansoor" if i may ask: why are you helping him (instead of Stockfish for ex)? i.e. is there a business arrangement...

What it goes to show is what a fine piece of work Ronald's generator is compared to generators just a few years ago.

Re: New 6-piece tablebases

I've updated to the latest sources and created a tag "sf_4_tb". To get Stockfish 4 with my changes the following should work: $ git clone https://github.com/syzygy1/Stockfish.git $ cd Stockfish $ git checkout sf_4_tb or just use this link: https://github.com/syzygy1/Stockfish/archive/sf_4_tb.zip No...
