Re: New 6-piece tablebases

Did you try the very latest code? It has worked for others, at least with (MingW) gcc-4.7.2. Yes, of course the latest. It's great to hear that it worked for someone, I will try it with MinGW soon. Does rtbgen.exe.stackdump contain anything? Exception: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION at rip=001801447D5 rax...

Re: New 6-piece tablebases

Hi Ronald, I finally had the time to try your generator. I could build the 3-4-5 piece tablebases without problems, and all checksums matched yours. However "rtbgen" crashes every time I try to build any 6-piece tablebase - both standalone and via "run.pl". It crashes instantly with no useful diagno...

Re: New 6-piece tablebases

Btw, do you happen to know how to test (in a .BAT file) for the existence of a file and execute a command only if the file does not exist? This is necessary for being able to continue an interrupted generation process from where it left off. Currently I use a Perl script, but on Windows that requir...

Re: New 6-piece tablebases

Hi Ronald, Can you integrate your TB code with Stockfish 4? I am thinking to run some tests to compare it with regular Stockfish 4, because I suspect the Elo gain may be larger than that from Nalimov's or other tablebases (which is hardly measurable). Hi Kirill. I can do that, but it might be a few...

Re: New 6-piece tablebases

You mention Stockfish integration on your page, is the complete source or Windows binary of this engine available? Jean-Francois Romang compiled a binary and has the source on github (see earlier in this thread), but I don't think this is the latest version. I recently created a github repository w...

There is a 3.5 GB file download link on Jim's site containing everything he has ever done.

Re: Jim Abblet, Goodbay ...( Only Chess Computers)

Very sad news. To Jim (if you are reading this): Thank you for your great contribution to the scene, especially for porting and giving second life to many obscure engines. I hope you will find lot of joy in the real world. Also, I'd be happy to host a mirror of Jim's site with engine compiles, if it...

Re: CCRL 40/40 and 40/4 lists tidied up

Kirill explained as follows: Engines with too few games don't have Elo tag in the pgn file. In 40/40 this probably means 200 games. This is our way of saying that those Elos are not reliable and should not be used for anything. For example, automatic opening book building may use ratings. You would...

Hi Ronald, You mention Stockfish integration on your page, is the complete source or Windows binary of this engine available? Also, are you aware of any other engines that are able to use your tablebases? If yes, do you think it may be a good idea to list such engines on your TB homepage? Fantastic ...

Re: How can I make 64-bit compiles with Cygwin?

With x86_64-w64-mingw32-gcc.exe there is no need for cygwin anymore as x86_64-w64-mingw32-gcc.exe already compiles directly from DOS command prompt box in windoze. I agree, in a sense that cygwin shell is not needed. At least personally I never use it, when I need to run any cygwin's binary I do so...
