Oops! There is a bug.

Code: Select all

Finished game 17 (Sachy 0.2.02 vs Minimax-II 0.0.1): 0-1 {White makes an illegal move: a4b3q}
I try to fix it. Sorry for the noise.

Re: JS Schach's alpha-beta approximation

That looks like an unrelated bug to me. Maybe. I would need to check again the code. If I remember correctly, the same procedure that searches for the best move is also used to evaluate moves legality. Inside the procedure the capture of the king is allowed. Sachy by Martin Macok retouched for CuteChess

Hello! I retouched Martin Macok's XBoard engine for compatibility with CuteChess. Maybe it will interest someone. It's a nice little program, neither too strong nor too weak, according to my personal criteria of course. :) 15 Iota 0.1 586 88 91 56 35% 753 23% 16 TuxedoCat 0.0.2 569 129 153 32 16% 93...

Alouette 0.1.3

A new version of Alouette is available.
  • Compatibility with c-chess-cli
  • Fixed castling generation
  • Improved Perf function
I would like to be sure that there are no more bugs, before trying to make the engine a bit stronger.

Re: Another XBoard engine derived from Minimax Basic

Roland , What did you do to Minimax basic ? I have played against Thomas Mcburney's compile & it is 1700 or 1800 elo at best. Your windows compile hits a depth of 20 in 1 second under Shredder gui and must be btw 2800 & 3000 elo , Great engine thanks , Karger Thank you for testing Minimax II. I sus...

Re: Cinnamon 2.3

here a new version with bug fixed (I hope) http://cinnamonchess.altervista.org/cinnamon_2.3beta.exe For me I cannot test: I am on Linux. Could you make the source available, or a Linux compilation? About castling rules in FRC, there is a useful message here: http://www.open-aurec.com/wbforum/viewto...

Re: JS Schach's alpha-beta approximation

I made an experimental version on the engine with this modification: if FActive = AColor then begin if LValue > LBeta then LBeta := LValue; if (LBeta > AAlpha) or (LBeta = AAlpha) and (ADepth > 2) then LStop := TRUE; end else begin if LValue < LBeta then LBeta := LValue; if (LBeta < AAlpha) or (LBet...

Re: JS Schach's alpha-beta approximation

Further the cut-off conditions seem too weak to me >= instead of >, or <= instead of < https://github.com/rchastain/moustique/blob/master/chessplayercore.pas#L417 If I understand correctly, you would suggest to try the following modification? if FActive = AColor then begin if LValue > LBeta then LB...
