No that is total cpu load.
If I isolate just the gui I get 4-8%, occasional spikes to 11% with tournament window open and 1-6% with human window open.
I also get 1-3% with cli.

Re: Cute Chess 0.9.4 released
If you don't actually need to watch the games live, there's a way to drop Cute Chess GUI's CPU usage to the cutechess-cli level: make sure there's a non-tournament game open where nothing is happening (eg. the default Human-Human game that Cute Chess opens initially) and switch to that game's tab. ...

Re: Cute Chess 0.9.4 released
Well, then I don't understand why you are making such a fuss. I merely pointed out that the 'weight' of the GUI wouldn't affect the tourney result, and thus could't be measured by it. Especially not if you leave one core for exclusive use by the GUI, so that it could consume CPU like mad and the en...

Re: Cute Chess 0.9.4 released
Well, I understand how Ilari (and everyone else) uses it: something is 'light weight' if it consumes few resources (such as memory, CPU, disk space), and 'heavy weight' when it consumes a lot. If you think it can ever mean something else, (as your last posting suggests), and used it that way, you s...

Re: Cute Chess 0.9.4 released
Fixed your tourney, yes. But did not affect the 'weight'. So what did your tourney result tell us about the weight? A couple of posts ago, you claimed that you understood why and how the term "weight" was used. But now you are asking questions about the very same thing again? I answered your questi...

Re: Cute Chess 0.9.4 released
Well, it would appear that one or more of those "fixes" fixed ithgm wrote:But there was no change in the speed or CPU use between version 0.9.3 and 0.9.4, was there? Just fixing of bugs.

Re: Cute Chess 0.9.4 released
I have no problem with the terminology. The point was why you would expect that it would make the slightest difference for the result of a tourney whether the GUI was light weight or heavy weight in this sense. Because with version 0.9.3 it was slower and more cumbersome which affected those same r...

Re: Cute Chess 0.9.4 released
Not sure what that has to do with being 'lightweight', however. Wether the GUI uses up 1%, 5% or 50% of the time should not affect the tourney result in the slightest. I used the term "lightweight" bacause this was the term Ilari used when referencing the cli vs the gui. So I was attemping to "rela...

Re: Cute Chess 0.9.4 released
Cute Chess GUI uses the same lightweight libcutechess library as cutechess-cli that is very efficient at running games and communicating with engines. But in fast games, especially if you open the "Active Games" widget when there are many concurrent games, UI updates like animating the pieces and d...

Re: Cute Chess 0.9.4 released
I find that many GUI's put out different tables. That is why I always use Ordo to select the output that "I" want to see. There was still a really nasty bug causing crashes in tournaments so I've made a bugfix release for 64-bit Windows and Linux: https://github.com/cutechess/cutechess/releases/tag/...
