Re: Komodo 13.2

Thanks for the recommendations. I wan't to make a repertoire for otb games. And I want to avoid the problem, that many times you will never get your prepared opening lines actually on the board. That's why I base my repertoire on human games, and engines with the human personalty. But I realise thi...

Re: What is the purpose of chess engines?

The answer is of course that it varies by the individuals needs. The most benignly purposeful uses being: 1. To analyse ones own games - but seriously, a programmed GUI is needed for that - you can use any old engine for that. Engines just power the search and one is about as good as the other. 2. P...

Re: Komodo 13.2

Thanks for the explanation Mark. That still doesn't help me if I want to use Komodo 13.2 with the human personality from with in Chess Position Trainer. I think I will let the contempt setting to it's default settings. Actually, I was thinking about this and I can't understand why you might want to...

Re: Auto/Tactical analysis with Komodo MTCS

I probably should not have tried this on a mere 3 min game because an engine will find so many 'errors' (not optimal move anyway) in them, but there is a definite difference in the output between Komodo and Komodo MCTS....find it hard to evaluate because of the game. I may try running each (in Tacti...

Auto/Tactical analysis with Komodo MTCS

Chessbase has a 'Tactical Analysis' feature. While one would think about any engine would work as good as another as features seem to be preset, I am wondering how Komodo MTCS would fare vs say Komodo regular as concerns their analysis of an existing game. I ask because when you set Tactical Analysi...

Re: https://mzchessforum.altervista.org

Like 'haters will hate'...complainers will complain. They did a decent job of keeping the jerks and spammers out of there...unlike say chessgod.com. I never once had a problem, nor with the newer Immortalchess.com. I would be willing to wager that the truth behind the demise of each might just be th...

Re: Komodo 13.2 Release

a significant improvement in MCTS playing strength on six or more threads (we got a plus 20 elo result in 1300 bullet games on 8 threads) Why? I mean, how does a +6 on a single thread translate to +20 on 8? Why not +6 on 1 and 3 and 8 threads? I can understand that more core = more strength, but th...

Re: TCEC Superfinal - Stockfish leading AllieStein

Yesterday in endgame play SF had depth 161/161 and Allie 0/0 - some difference :) . In theory, if you know the outcome of 10^43 positions , like 32 men TB, you just need depth 1 only. ( 7 men tablebases knows only depth 1. In practice, if you know, a certrain trade leads certain endgame that you ar...
