Re: Scaling of engines from FGRL rating list.

Instead of saying Andscacs scales well with increasing time, we might say it actually just scales horribly with decreasing time. The problem is we only looked at 2 data points and have no way of knowing for sure, without broadening our scope. And it doesn't even have to be one or the other, but cou...

Re: Scaling of engines from FGRL rating list

Is the following guess/interpretation gibberish or plausible? : Since Stockfish 8 seems to be the highest rated engine in the list, it is closer to a perfect player and finds "the best" move quicker than all the other engines in average. Hence it cannot scale much better with more time control beca...

Re: Challenge: Which Side is the Human, Which Side is the En

I guessed the engine is white in case you want to gather tons of guesses for a statistical test.

Re: Top Three Engines Are Essentially Equal Strength!

Only ten Elo rating points between the top three programs is quite amazing at this strength level :) Very exciting times in the computer chess world! We need a round-robin playoff between these three programs, may be 100 games :) It would potentially make for some great chess game to review and ana...

Re: AMD's Ryzen launches March 2, outperforming Intel's Core

Another test (in english), but this time stockfish performance is bad ?! http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=ryzen-1800x-linux&num=5 I saw it yesterday, they screwed the test completely. Seem to use 1 thread. If it is 1 thread, the result shows that Ryzen thread is faster than the th...

A question about cpu cache

I've been told that values (such as loop counters) as well as entire asm programs, can fit into the cpu cache and that this implies the program runs faster than if the program was in the RAM for instance. I know that in general the cpu cache memory is only a few kB or MB but so are chess engines. In...

Re: CCRL 40/40, 40/4 and FRC lists updated (21st January 201

Is there a reason why the checkmate ends the game with a 1/2 - 1/2 result? Not sure, but I have had issues with the 64-bit version of Clarabit 1.00. I see, hmm. I worry more, I don't think an engine can force a drawn result, I think it's more of an adjudication by the GUI problem. The programmers h...

Re: Komodo 10.3 64-bit Gauntlet for CCRL 40/40

Can someone shed some light, please? I see that from Graham's picture, Komodo 10.3 played 572 games but on the CCRL page, it played only 426 games. I was therefore lead to think that the CCRL web page wasn't refreshed to the latest results, however this hypothesis is invalidated because Komodo 10.3 ...
