Re: If machines can beat us at games, does it make them more

Even modern chess engines are mostly intended to be brute force in the sense that they (eventually) enumerate all possible solution candidates. They are just a lot better at looking at more promising lines earlier than the engines of the past. I did not know that. I thought that there was a maximum...

I'm not here to spoil anything but I see a score of 6-10 vs Houdini 5.01 (+0 -4 =12) which is negative.

Re: New AlphaGo prototype has 50-0 record against top Go pla

If the machine is similar to Lee Sedol match, then it's pretty hard to guess its stregnth for regular home use. MCTS Go scales very well to many cores, say a 24 core, 2 GPU system might be 400-500 ELO points weaker than this distributed machine. And it's again hard to transform ELO points to dan le...

Re: CCRL 40/40, 40/4 and FRC lists updated (12th November 20

It looks like something was broken. Now all of a sudden the pure lists of both 40/4 and 40/40 show much more recent engines (SF 8, Komodo 10.3 or 10.2, Gull 3 (!!!) and even Andsacs on 4 CPU's). Glad it was fixed/updated.

Re: For H.G.Muller about Winboard and variants with Stockfis

Why would you want to use atomkraft which is based on SF 2.1.1 (5 years old) which is weaker than the SF versions you linked to? As far as I remember it cannot even run natively on linux and so I don't know its compatibility with modern Winboard commands.

Re: Blitz rating list, 2016-11-29

Hello Ferdinand, I'm quite curious to know how multi-threads perform in Crazyhouse. Please, would you mind to run some games SF-1core vs SF-4cores ? Thanks, Vincent I am also curious about the same thing, but I think he has a quad-core and that to get the most accurate results it's better not to us...

Re: Human vs Engine Top Crazyhouse match !

Thanks a lot Vincent for the match. It's about time for the engines to overtake humans in zh. In the end it took longer than for go!

Re: Crazyhouse Computer Championships 2016

Hello people, I have 2 questions :
Is Stockfish-zh still the only multi threaded engine for zh?
Would it be possible to include the latest SF-zh running on 2 cores in this tournament or the next one? I'm really interested to see how much a zh engine gains when running on more cores.
Thanks!

Re: Crazyhouse Computer Championships 2016

Interesting, so this new SFzh seems to lose on time when it finds a checkmate? If so, that's a bug worth investigating.
