Re: Poor mans testing process please

Even with an old machine, you can still easily run 1000-2000 fast-ish games (e.g. 5s + 0.2s) overnight. That won't prove out <3 elo improvements, but it will validate many good patches and flag bad ones.

Dumping a search tree

Are there any engines besides a special compile of Crafty (trace command) that will output a tree search to screen/disk?

Re: New engine: Mora

"MORA" doesn't actually stand for anything, it is just the name of my cat who was happen to be at my desk when I started to code, so I decided to name the engine in her honor haha. Does anyone else find this explanation sort of... regressive? I'm not sure I follow. What's wrong with naming my engin...

Re: Understanding and Pushing the Limits of the Elo Rating Algorithm

How did they miss our work Paired Comparisons with Ties ? We compared three draw models and found out Davidson fits chess data best -- which they reframed as their own K-elo if I am not mistaken. Maybe I should alert the authors to our paper and makes them spell out what their unique contribution. ...

Also, I believe that UCI doesn't send a game result/end game flag to the engine, so if you are doing any post-game processing, you have to infer when this occurs, rather than being told explicitly.

Re: Guess the Poster CCC-WordCloud Fun Competition

In the attachments are six WordClouds composed of texts, by individual authors, posted into all CCC forums (less CTF) since records began. Each attachment has two WordClouds, each WordClouds labelled 1 to 6 CCC-wordcloud-1.0.png CCC-wordcloud-2.0.png CCC-wordcloud-3.0.png So, competition, can you i...

Re: Problem to Lc0....

Lc0 really doesn't do well on positions that is has no chance of ever having seen anything remotely like it, so it will probably have much more trouble than Stockfish. It's not even a possible chess position, and Lc0 only trains on chess games.

Re: "Fat fritz" stronger than Stockfish ?

Hi, What do you think about the claim that "Fat fritz" is stronger than Stockfish. Here is ChessBase article on this issue. I don't see it claiming anywhere that Fat Fritz is stronger, just highlighting that it found a move Stockfish missed. Since that is one of Lc0's fortes, it's not surprising th...

Re: My failed attempt to change TCEC NN clone rules

When you ask children to make a summary of a movie, you don't care about how good are they about making movie summaries, all you care is for them to get used to following orders, orders that will get increasingly more nonsensical until they get a job and are willing to do whatever their boss demand...
