Shoot. That's disappointing. Keep up the good work with potential matches. Waiting for the Garry Kasparov match.....grin. I'll contribute a million dollars.

Sincerely,

Re: human playing style of chess engines

Tim, it may be possible to modify Komodo's settings to make it play even more human-like. I'd look into it. ;) CL :) It would be nice. It's very possible the best positional player will also be the best tactical player if you change the king safety settings and the dynamism settings. That would be ...

Re: human playing style of chess engines

Hello, which chess engines (WB/UCI/MilleniumChessSystem/ChessBase) have in your opinion a human playing style? Best wishes, Norbert I'm assuming when you say "human playing style" you meant sees creative plans and very consistent play from one move to the next like it'is all part of its plan. Or wi...

Re: 2 Komodo Games: Larry's and Mark's opinions welcome

Tim: I have the Komodo 10 computer chess program and am very impressed by it . I particularly like the way it marshalls its forces creatively and and how it applies unremitting pressure on its opponents weaknesses when it finds them. I have presented numerous puzzles for it to work on and it has be...

Re: 2 Komodo Games: Larry's and Mark's opinions welcome

So no one liked how komodo played? :) Not one person commented on the games I poseted or how Komodo played. All I got was komodo haters. I wasn't even appealing to Komodo fans per se in as much as I was appealing to chess enthusiasts in general who like to see computers play smart chess. Larry is th...

Re: 2 Komodo Games: Larry's and Mark's opinions welcome

Umm, calm down I guess? Houdini 4.0 is currently number 3 on CCRL, hardly obsolete. And who's leading all the rating lists? Komdoo 10.1 is. You act like the TCEC proves it's inferior. You're judging that one engine is better than another after one game? It takes many games. I blame cato for the ope...

Hello Anil, I dont know you and Mr Tim, I am writing this comment as it is too unpleasant to read as a forum member and I will report to admin if I see similar post again. I am writing this not based on personal feeling or fan of something but based on the general sense as a forum member. Why you s...

Re: 2 Komodo Games: Larry's and Mark's opinions welcome

Note that CCRL does rate newer Stockfishes at 40/4, and the July 16 version (about same date as Komodo 10.1) was only 26 elo above SF7, nothing like 60+ claimed. Probably the gain would be even less at 40/40. If you add 26 elo to the IPON, CCRL 40/40, CEGT 40/20, and CEGT 5' + 3" ratings of SF 7, K...

Re: 2 Komodo Games: Larry's and Mark's opinions welcome

Houdini 4 is Ancient History. Its like matching a Stone Age man with a club against a modern soldier with a Rocket-Launcher ! In case you're not aware, Komodo 10.1 just got blown away by Houdini 200716 at the TCEC. None of Komodo's too cute for words "good positional play" or anything else you ment...

2 Komodo Games: Larry's and Mark's opinions welcome

Hi, here are two games played on my personal laptop tournament between houdini 4.00 and Komodo 10.1. I just wanted to point out how these games illustrate how far komodo has come in positional play, active piece play, closed position play, and attacking play. The 2nd game is a typical komodo win, an...
