Re: Komodo 10.1

Komodo 10.1 has just been released at komodochess.com. It is the same version which won the World Rapid Championship with a 97% score, and is also the same as the one that beat a GM by 3 to 1 giving him two pawns handicap. It is slightly improved from the version that won the World Computer Champio...

Re: To Larry Kaufman

Well, the default is just 100% of what we believe makes for strongest play. The max is 200% (i.e. double), the min is zero, but if you set it to zero it will play silly, and even a setting like 1 or 2 will give ridiculous play. Maybe something like 10 is about the lowest value where it will play so...

Re: To Larry Kaufman

The new parameter "Dynamism" will have far more effect on Komodo's style than any changes we have made to the default version. It will allow you to make Komodo as cautious or as wild as you like. As for the default version, we have made some changes to king safety that hopefully will make Komodo a ...

Re: To Larry Kaufman

Larry, I know that elo is always the most important when deciding what changes to make to Komodo, but I wondered if you and mark both intentionally try to change/improve the style of komodo when making changes? If so, how would you characterize any stylistic improvements you may have made based on t...

Re: To Larry Kaufman

The new term cannot be set differently for middlegame or endgame, but I think there is no need. If a move allows the opponent more checks or attacks on our king, a higher setting will avoid the move. In other words, it's symmetric; it treats both sides the same. We could be off a few percent in the...

Re: To Larry Kaufman

The next release of Komodo will have an option for contempt in analysis mode. But contempt has nothing to do with the new term. It controls the relative weight of dynamic vs. static features, nothing to do with playing for a draw or a win. A high setting emphasizes things like mobility, king safety...

Re: To Larry Kaufman

Hi Larry, I just wanted to say I really liked Komodo 9.0 when it first came out because it seemed to sacrifice and understand compensation much more than all of its komodo predecessors. It sacrificed very frequently and won in amazing style. I noticed that 9.1, 9.2, and 9.3 have sacrificed far less...
