Re: about using winboard

I agree with HGM that XBoard / Winboard is the best GUI. I would prefer Winboard over Arena any time. Engine installation has improved much and now it's a snap. I don't need any manual to set up a position but if I need one, it is there and in enough detail. If I have a problem with anything GUI-con...

Re: THE COMPUTER CHESS HAS REACHED ITS CRITICAL POINT

But who is the mass audience to make TPUs a mass product? I don't see them, and that's why the regular shop PC will not have 4-8 TPUs in the foreseeable future. Besides, the whole development cost would spread over not-too-many units, making them expensive and limiting their use even more. I can se...

Re: THE COMPUTER CHESS HAS REACHED ITS CRITICAL POINT

Maybe at the very far future when the quantum computer will be a common home instrument it should be happen. I am a bit m...

For the second position SF-dev considers an N sac instead of B sac and finds nothing better than a draw. It's interesting that it finds Bxg6 on the very first ply but immediate...

Re: Let us mourn the death of AsmFish

I look at the Stefan Pohl link you have given and I don't see asmFish hitting the bottom. Quite on the contrary, it's soaring in the sky, especially in combination with the Cerebellum book (asmBrainFish)
To quote Mark Twain, announcing the death of asmFish is a little exaggeration.
