Re: On-line engine blitz tourney May

WaDuuttie's greatest achievement this time was the (somewhat lucky) draw against Texel in an endgame with a pawn less. In this position: [d]8/8/KPb3R1/2k4p/P1r5/8/2B5/8 w - - 1 57 Texel played 57.Rg5+ allowing WaDuuttie to draw. The winning move (I think) was 57.Ka7! [pgn] [Event "ICS rated blitz ma...

Re: random evaluation perturbation factor

By the 'Beal effect' are you referring to "Random Evaluations in Chess", Don F. Beal and Michael C. Smith, ICCA Journal [17(1):3-9], March 1994? Is a text available for that publication? The article is also published in "Advances in Computer Chess 7", H.J. van den Herik, I.S. Herschberg and J.W.H.M...

WaDuuttie does (but I don't consider him to be a modern engine :) ): FEN: r3r1k1/2p1bppp/p1n1p3/1p3qNP/3PN3/P1P1R3/1P2QPP1/4R1K1 w - - 0 22 WaDuuttie: 13 00:00 486,152 1,130,586 +0.58 e3f3 e7g5 f3f5 e6f5 e4g5 e8e2 e1e2 a8d8 g5f3 g8f8 g1f1 f7f6 e2e6 d8d6 e6e2 14 00:01 1,389,638 1,029,361 +0.54 e3f3 e...
