Re: cutechess cli storione timeout

Haven't looked into the details, but maybe you can toy around with these parameters:

Re: Ivanhoe plays singlecore in TCEC 13 !!

I was doing some extra research this morning. Some versions of IvanHoe have a Threads option, some other have the Titanic thing. Does anybody have a link to the version playing in TCEC?

Re: TCEC gui is great now but

Has IvanHoe ever really been tested with that many cores before? It seems the scaling is awful after a certain point. Was there not a more modern engine available for that spot? I don't think so. Maybe it can run on 43 threads but it seems to be the same version that has competed a couple of years ...

Re: VirtualCoffin

Maybe you can check if you are running the latest version of virtualbox and update your installation. If that does not help I would export the Vbox-Image to another machine and see what happens https://superuser.com/questions/633431/whats-the-recommended-way-to-move-a-virtualbox-vm-to-another-computer

Re: SF abrok compiles are now faster!?

Yes, with Ubuntu 18.04 doing a pgo build seems to work with mingw. With previous versions of Ubuntu this was not possible due to some strange bugs.

Re: new versions of wine

Houdini accepts the 'uci' command, it replies with 'uciok', it accepts the 'go infinite' command and it starts sending info. But when I type 'stop', I don't see this command appearing on the screen, and Houdini doesn't react. I had to stop it with <ctrl-C>. When Houdini is thinking, it seems to blo...

Re: new versions of wine

This is the best I got so for: <Houdini 1.5a(2): readyok >Houdini 1.5a(2): go wtime 10000 btime 10000 winc 1000 binc 1000 >Houdini 1.5a(2): stop <Houdini 1.5a(2): info multipv 1 depth 1 seldepth 14 score cp 32 time 986...

new versions of wine

I compiled the same version of cutechess on both Ubuntu 14.04 and 18.04 and try to play games with Houdini 1.5a using wine. With wine version 1.6 which is shipped with the old Ubuntu everything works. When I try to do the same on the new Ubuntu with wine 3.6, I can see in system monitor that the eng...

Re: Stockfish compiled by Visual Studio is much slower than by Cygwin?

Stockfish has been developed and optimised mainly with gcc so I would expect it to run fastest with that compiler.

I toyed around and my best version was around 7% slower than the one I downloaded from abrok.eu

Re: Stockfish compiled by Visual Studio is much slower than by Cygwin?

I tried using MSVC before. When I type stockfish bench.exe it is very slow. Redirecting most of the output with stockfish bench > nul regains most of speed loss,
