Re: Anyone excited about TCEC 9 superfinal

Stockfish is no joke. The engine is absolutely the world's strongest. Do not expect much of a match. I believe that Houdini will be looking at between 2-5 wins in 100 games with at least 20+ losses. The games will do the talking. But this isn't difficult to foresee. 20+ losses is extremely unlikely...

Re: TCEC stage 3 , New Houdini starts with a bang

The game which was played in violation of the rules was null and void in the moment when it started, null and void while it was played, and null and void after it ended - there is no difference. That's a "legalist" point of view, so to say, and I don't think it can be reasonably disputed. If the ru...

Re: TCEC stage 3 , New Houdini starts with a bang

The 5 ELO points difference in Komodo settings with probability of 98% didn't have any impact on the outcome of the first game, and these 5 ELO points in single game are negligible. It's replaying of the game which impacted seriously the stage. It flipped the fortunes of a single game approximately...

Re: TCEC stage 3 , New Houdini starts with a bang

To see how disproportionate the action to replay the game is, for at most 5-10 ELO points loss in ONE game, they changed the result in the whole Stage 3 by 1 point between Komodo and Houdini, and that in 56 games each amounts to 13 ELO points in the WHOLE stage. If you're saying that changing the r...

Re: Surprisingly difficult stalemate problem (for some engin

Stockfish 4 solves it in a matter of seconds, while DD doesn't see it for at least a couple of minutes or so (perhaps not at all?).

So, between 4 and DD there must have been a patch that added Elo (presumably), yet "broke" this...

Re: CCRL 40/40, 40/4 and FRC lists updated (7th May 2016)

On the FRC list, the principle is that Komodo and Stockfish are tested together, using the Stockfish development release current on the same day as the Komodo release. So the idea is to keep them in synch, which is in fact totally impartial. Komodo 9.42 was tested, but I have not yet had the time t...

Re: CCRL 40/40, 40/4 and FRC lists updated (7th May 2016)

From my point of view, because there is already a Stockfish version at number 1 spot on both the 404 and 404FRC lists, it serves little purpose to test Stockfish 7. For me the "official" releases aren't important - if I want to run Stockfish, I'll just grab the latest development version from abroc...
