Re: Excessive pruning by SF??

Thanks. I tried it on computer that could run SF6 BMI2 (but otherwise similar specs) and now it did find Rxh8 in a few secs as well. Actually, it found a couple of similar moves, which were nothing but some piece shuffling before engaging in Rxh8 later on. After like 3 mins it finally hooked on Rxh8...

Excessive pruning by SF??

From Keres-Hort (1972) 5R1b/5pk1/6p1/1K2P1P1/3B1P2/r7/8/8 w - - 23 57 The puzzle solution is Rxh8! Usually Stockfish finds these things in like 0.1 sec, but this time after 10 mins it's still stuck on Bc5 for +7.70 45/81 (5-men syzygy, 2 cores @2.67 MHz, SF6 POPCNT). After I force it to Rxh8, it goe...

Re: Any News on another TCEC season ?

Well, here's a rumor: (by me, right now.. :D) Absence of any news from Martin hints at a likely end to the project. Season 8 was supposed to be played with a new 32-core machine, and funding was being sought-after. Possibly, it fizzled. Still, the 16-core machine is still there (I think), so startin...

Re: FM Tilicheev Busted as (C)heater at Chess.com online Tou

An engine-running script linked to the online webpage where the game develops should be relatively simple to code and implement.

Heck, it should even be possible to have the script play automatically.

Re: Engine test position KM FIDE GP 2015

Agree. White is better, but black should have enough space to swing pieces back and forth and put out all the fires.

Re: Was TCEC meant to be waiting for something?

Well, I am more interested in FRC than in normal chess 8-) If FRC ever gets popular at the top level, there will be no turning back to "old-fashioned" chess. FRC is far richer than normal chess, since it has many more piece-organization patterns. That said, I hope Martin can put up season 8, as I co...

One day I'll sit down and draw some 95% confidence intervals around these values :)

Re: TB installation Q

That seems to have worked, thx a lot :D I pulled down the 3-4-5-men tables and linked it to SF. I tried it out and thought there was something FISHY about it, as it evaluated a TB win as a draw. Then I realised I had been doing some moves on the board and the "draw" eval was just me doing a 3-fold r...

TB installation Q

Hi guys,

I downloaded SF6 the other day and would like to try it out with Szygzy. Any pointers on where to get the tablebases and how to install them?

Puter is a MacBook Pro and stockfish is the AppStore standard SF6 POPCNT.

Thx all and sorry if this is totally trivial :)
