Re: Engine test position KM FIDE GP 2015

Agree. White is better, but black should have enough space to swing pieces back and forth and put out all the fires.

Re: Was TCEC meant to be waiting for something?

Well, I am more interested in FRC than in normal chess 8-) If FRC ever gets popular at the top level, there will be no turning back to "old-fashioned" chess. FRC is far richer than normal chess, since it has many more piece-organization patterns. That said, I hope Martin can put up season 8, as I co...

Re: Comparison 1-, 2-, 4-, 8- and 12-Cores

One day I'll sit down and draw some 95% confidence intervals around these values :)

Re: TB installation Q

That seems to have worked, thx a lot :D I pulled down the 3-4-5-men tables and linked it to SF. I tried it out and thought there was something FISHY about it, as it evaluated a TB win as a draw. Then I realised I had been doing some moves on the board and the "draw" eval was just me doing a 3-fold r...

TB installation Q

Hi guys,

I downloaded SF6 the other day and would like to try it out with Szygzy. Any pointers on where to get the tablebases and how to install them?

Puter is a MacBook Pro and stockfish is the AppStore standard SF6 POPCNT.

Thx all and sorry if this is totally trivial :)

Re: Rating lists [CC-History].

Here's a random thought. How about a graphic plot with year-averaged Elo ratings? One could include the present top 10 engines evolution over the last years or so. The 10th engine could be e.g. "other" and represent the best left-over engine. Obviously, this would need to be done for same, or simila...

Re: Komodo wins TCEC

Great win for Komodo, the soundest performer throughout season 7. Kudos to its developers and also to the SF team, for being such a strong opponent and also for what someone called "exciting swashbuckling style" :) Engines still present us with some incomprehensible rook and king moves, together wit...

Re: Best engine 2014

komodo 8 and stockfish xx1214 are probably the best

K better at long time control, SF at short, but both very good
