Re: SSD SATA Recommendation

I know about speed of SSD or speed of PCI-E. I ask whether exist any RAID controller which has at least any one of this feature: 1) support RAID-0 with more than 2x interleave, 4x 0+0+0+0 interleave. No matter slow or fast, just supporting this kind of logical configuration. 2) any RAID controller c...

Re: SSD SATA Recommendation

If the requests are random So, actually 15 Gb/sec and 3 megaIOPS controllers with RAID 0+0+0+0 (4x interleave) won't exist in near future and the only hope is random distribution of RTB files on individual drives Is PCI-E architecture really multi-thread scalable? If you put several 700 000 IOPS in...

Re: SSD SATA Recommendation

ASUS also produces a card that can handle 4 M.2 PCIe Ver.3 drives that can be raided. I was asking about 10-15Gb/sec and ~3,000,000 IOPS, not about acting 4 drives as single and not about volume. Which interface bus use controller capable of 15 Gb/sec and 3 megaIOPS? Does it support 4x RAID-0 confi...

a 3 or 4 drive raid array with 10-15Gb/sec and ~3,000,000 IOPS sustained is likely needed.
Does it really exist such kind of controller? Which interface bus will it use?

Re: SSD SATA Recommendation

2TB Intel 660P (SSDPEKNW020T8X1) is about +15% in price to Crucial SATA.
It has 1800/1800 MB/sec linear speeds and 220 000 IOPS (Crucial = 95 000 IOPS)

Samsung 970 is much more expensive, but much faster: linear speeds are 3500/3300 and 560 000 IOPS

Re: SSD SATA Recommendation

If you have ATX (not laptop) PCI-E to NVME adapter cost $3 and you do not have to invest in outdated technologies
Image

PCI-E 3.0 x4 SSD are about 5x faster (seq read) than SATA-III

Re: Is 1. Bg6 Rxe1+ significantly better than 1. Bd3?

Stockfish_20052322 + Syzygy 6-man After 1. Bg6 eval goes to +2 quite fast, I fed hash to about D=50, then iterate play with D=40...47 per move Eval stays close to +2 for a long, white has pawn advantage, but with high-mobility Queens on board it takes are while to realize pawn advantage. White mate ...

It would restart from scratch *but* with hash table full of useful Arena send move commands during infinite analysis this way: -->1:stop -->1:position fen **************** moves **** **** **** **** **** my_new_move1 -->1:go infinite ........... -->1:stop -->1:position fen **************** moves ***...

Re: Bmi2 and AMD

Fishtest run BMI2 compiles for all AMD CPU with BMI2 support.
make ARCH=x86-64-bmi2

It's not good.

Re: Bmi2 and AMD

Zen3 promise 10-15% IPC improvement.
Maybe they will implement hardware BMI2 execution as a part of this 10-15% target

AVX-512 is set to be only in Zen4 (along with DDR5)
