Re: 76th Amateur Series Division 4

Yes, that was a fantastic game by Deuterium! I think the sacrifice was 100% correct, but Deuterium didn't find the optimal way to proceed, so SF starts to prefer black, but in the end Winter was the first to slip up. Was a fantastic fight and well deserved point that may decide the tournament! In ge...

Re: 76th Amateur Series Division 4

Interesting game featuring a very casual and positional exchange sacrifice as well as a dancing knight. Towards the end black is basically in zugzwang and starts dropping material in desperation. Re: Fizbo 2 sources just got released

From a very brief look at the code, the part I find most interesting is that Fizbo was aparently using neural networks. At least to me this is news.

Re: FabChess 1.11 64-bit Gauntlet for CCRL 40/40

Congrats! FabChess' progress has been fantastic. Of course I couldn't help myself, but take a look at the games between our babies and I stumbled upon this nice and quiet Caro-Kann draw  [Event "FabChess Gauntlet"] [Site "ChessGUI2"] [Date "2019.09.23"] [Round "3.49"] [White "FabChess 1.11 64-...

This is probably one of my new favorite Winter games! Re: New engine releases 2019

Winter 0.7 has been released. Hopefully I will find time to make a proper release post this time. To avoid any confusion, this Winter version is NN based. All versions of Winter from 0.6.2 onward are NN based. Furthermore there is no support for GPU, so it should be run like any other CPU based engi...

Re: My failed attempt to change TCEC NN clone rules

I like that you differentiated more than the original rules, I think they could be improved. What do you mean by "weights format"? If you are referring to the actual format of the external weights file then I don't feel this should be included as I feel it should be encouraged to reuse that. Having ...

The Price of Contempt and Armageddon

I recently implemented contempt in Winter, which is probably the last major feature I will be adding before releasing Winter 0.7. Unfortunately I have unexpectedly measured a regression in Winter with my implementation at 0 contempt. The good news is I think I understand what might be going on, so I...

Re: New Tool for Tuning with Skopt

thomasahle, Very nice tool! Thx a lot for sharing it. jorose, Just wanted to mention I was successfully able to retune Winter's futility and static null move pruning margins with this tool. I measured a self play rating gain of +9 +- 3 Elo roughly. How many games did you have to run during tunning ...

Re: SIMEX 2.1

Does Winter already support such a tool? What do I need to add to an engine in order to support a tool like SIMEX? I'm kind of curious what engines Winter (especially Winter dev) is related to :D EDIT: I'm trying things out in WINE now. I get the following error at the moment: Can't recognize 'sort ...
