Re: Apples new 'Swift' language

I guess it will succeed in the iOS ecosystem, but wonder if it will ever make ground in OS X or get ported outside of XCode ? It will: At the very least, JetBrains have already promised to add Swift support in AppCode. I don't understand the comparisions to Go, D and Python in this thread, because ...

I think Stockfish iOS is using engine version 4, so that will be a huge jump ! 8-)
No, it's newer than SF 4, though slightly older than SF DD.

Re: Senpai 1.0 (new engine)

Since Fabien forgot to say it, I will:

The reason why Senpai was released on this particular date is that today is the ten year anniversary of Fruit 1.0.
:)

Edit: Oh, nevermind, he did say it, just in another thread.

Re: bout this app" page says "Chess engine develop

Congratulations! Thanks! It's been a fun project to work on. The google translation of this Norwegian article make you a millionaire by now ;-) http://www.dn.no/forsiden/etterBors/article2772522.ece "Play Magnus" has so far cost more than three million dollars to develop, but is free to download fr...

Re: Play Magnus: official App with Chess Engine

The 10 year will most likely wipe the floor with me. 8-) 10 years is where I'm beginning to struggle, too. :) Here's a video of Magnus himself playing a quick game to entertain the audience during yesterday's launch party: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncSH8OUTA74&feature=youtu.be&a Unfortunately,...

Few people play chess on PCs these days, and I'm afraid a PC version doesn't have a very high priority at the moment. An Android version may happen in the not too distant future, though.

Re: bout this app" page says "Chess engine develop

"Chess engine developed by Tord Romstad." ;) True, that's what I've been working on the last few months. I've just returned from the launch party. :) Basically, the chess engine is a modified version of Glaurung (not Stockfish, since that wouldn't have been possible for copyright reasons) with some...

Re: Play Magnus: official App with Chess Engine

I will play stockfish against the Magnus computer. To see if I can win a chance to play the real Magnus. :) You're joking, but in case there are other players who seriously planning to do the same thing, let me warn you that all games are uploaded to our databases, and will be analysed for signs of...

Re: Best chess program for iPad

The Chesstiger app UI is the most fun and user friendly for those who like to play and study chess. Perhaps I should clarify that I didn't mean to claim that the Chess Tiger user interface is bad, and that I admire, respect and genuinely like its author. I just find it visually unattractive, becaus...
