Re: Dull propellers at work

Thanks for pointing this out, Guenther.

I don't know whether to be flattered that they copied our engine, sad/disgusted that they gave no credit and tried to hide the fact that they copied, or amused by what they changed... (evalhash.cpp -> zobrist.c ????)

Re: How hard would it be to modify Stockfish to implement a

I don't think it is quite that hard... All you would need to do is create your own tree structure to store the Monte Carlo tree. Stockfish has nearly everything else you need. Laser 1.1 Release

Laser 1.1 has been released! Changes include aspiration windows, eval tuning, and a new LMR formula that hopefully gives better scaling. Regressions vs. Laser 1.0: +60 in 8000 games at 3+0.02 +68 in 4000 games at 15+0.05 Preliminary tests also show at least +80 in self-play at 60+0.1 https://github....

Re: Impact ELO developer

Is there a positive correlation between ELO developer and ELO engine ? Are there any (original) engines with ELO greater than 2600 developed by developers with ELO less than 1000 ? It's possible but hard to develop with poor chess knowledge. If I had a rating, it would be around 1200-1300? I pick u...

Re: Transposition table utilizattion

I don't keep that exact statistic, but for 256 MB hash and depth 16 I get 9% hash score cuts (match, sufficient draft, and correct bound/score for an immediate cutoff).

Re: Transposition table utilizattion

The value displayed in Arena is hash full, not hit rate. I usually get 25-30% hash hits midgame if I give sufficient space for the table.
