Re: Why there is no interest in Computer with odds Vs Humans match?

What about removing rook + two minor pieces for queen. Or remove rook and bishop for queen (no bishop pair for engine if possible). rnb1kbnr/pppppppp/8/8/8/8/PPPPPPPP/RN1QKB2 w Qkq - 0 1 rn1qkb2/pppppppp/8/8/8/8/PPPPPPPP/RNB1KBNR w KQq - 0 1 Alternatively this 1n1qk1nr/pppppppp/8/8/8/8/PPPPPPPP/RNB1...

Re: Why there is no interest in Computer with odds Vs Humans match?

Chessqueen: based on earlier matches with Nakamura, knight for rook is not enough. Exchange + move or exchange + pawn is doable today.

Komodo W, Nakamura Black.

Re: Why there is no interest in Computer with odds Vs Humans match?

The world champions pride is too high to be hurt by losing to Komodo. I don't know if team Komodo have considered a match with him. The assumption that he decline the invitation is clearly there though. Alternatively Maxime Vachier-Lagrave or Caruana is also viable alternative.

Re: DTM50

I use Nalimov 6-men on the old Samsung 970 EVO 2TB, with my own engine it is fast enough to probe at depth 1 without causing too much slowdown. A few years back I generated 6-men syzygy WDL and DTZ which took 5 days on my old 5960x, however I never came to use it. I still want to try to combine syz...

Re: DTM50

6-men nalimov on samsung 970 evo plus 2tb. For server analysis (Let's Check in Fritz or Chessbase). Read 3,000 MB/s / Write 2,800 MB. Probe speed of 3-4 is fine based on my testing so far (Houdini 6.03) I clearly notice some EGTB improvements of 970 evo plus 2tb compared to 960 evo 256 GB version. B...

Re: Why there is no interest in Computer with odds Vs Humans match?

Maybe odds matches in Fischer Random is harder for the human side. Humans are used to the standard opening setup. The unfamiliarity of Chess960 may give the engine the upper hand?

Maybe more odds is needed to equalize the chances in Fischer Random.

What is your thought on this one Larry?

Re: Why there is no interest in Computer with odds Vs Humans match?

Ovyron: i do not fully agree with you on this one. As long the forces are approximaetly equal, which is believed to be 2-3 pawns or pawn for knight + move, it can be worth watching. Nakamura struggled against Komodo when exchange ahead, so maybe exchange + pawn (engine playing black) is worth a try...

Re: Why there is no interest in Computer with odds Vs Humans match?

Because it's not chess? It doesn't matter if one side could dance her Knight around to capture the pawns and go back to the opening position, why the other side would allow them to do that? Humans play from the opening position exclusively. Computers play from the opening position exclusively. Thes...

Re: Leela Chess Zero 42656 vs Stockfish 210619

mwyoung: the way i interpret your replies is that you're afraid of sacrificing speed (modest speed penalty), something that is most necessary when running with ponder enabled. Perhaps you should purchase another identical machine then two computer matches solves all of the issues mentioned in this t...

Re: Leela Chess Zero 42656 vs Stockfish 210619

mwyoung - Keep up to date. I am using 36 threads. And the ponder on matches keep coming. Because my judgement prevails... It is quite remarkable that you don't listen to the regulars on this forum. Now you're handicapping your match even further, running 36 threaded matches on a 32 threaded cpu is ...
