Re: New Houdini

Re: Games 83 and 84 , end of tournament

to see Stockfish that far in Advance to Komodo 10.1 is what I get too with my matches. Stockfish made tremendous steps forward. But this is also a momentary screenshot. Things can change again :) Clemens Keck You can naturally test however you want, but in science, once you decide on the rules of t...

Re: The scaling with time of opening books

Stockfish also greatly benefits from a book. My quick stockfish variant test shows that Brainfish outperformed all the other versions, even though the only difference was the brainfish book. Program Elo + - Games Score Av.Op. Draws 1 BrainFish_160914_x64_modern : 3161 21 20 500 75.5 % 2965 48.6 % 2...

Re: The scaling with time of opening books

Perhaps time spent in the opening has a disproportionate elo cost compared to time spent elsewhere. Also of interest is the constant observation of how Komodo plays so quickly in the opening in TCEC, yet appears to achieve fantastic results with that time management. I think it would be interesting ...

Re: cutechess-cli 0.8.0 released

What does it mean exactly when cutechess gives a message of "engine disconnected"? It's something I've seen in TCEC and in my home games, and I was curious what cutechess is seeing from its end?

Re: Houdini 5 dev in TCEC

I am only making a statement that if there are (commercial) interests, results of tournaments can not be trusted. TCEC also doesn't check source code. Don't know if they do similarity checks. Calling the integrity of Throsten into question with no evidence is something to be ashamed of. But that's ...

There is a good reason why I stick to official releases for the 40/40 lists.
What, you mean you don't want to update to a new Stockfish version twice a week? :D

Re: HAwkeye 1.03 Released

I have a mystery for the bird devs to solve. Gull doesn't use its assigned hash under ChessGUI (and IIRC, Arena). If I assign 2GB, it will report ~70MB or so under resource monitor. With cutechess, it uses the entire 2GB. Vadim told Graham that nothing was wrong, but I definitely get better results ...
