Re: How to set MultiPV under Fritz?

The only way I can see is by editing the corresponding .uci file. These are typically stored under C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\ChessBase\Engines.UCI\ . You'll need to add the "[Options]" section if it's not present already, followed by the MultiPV entry, e.g. [ENGINE] Name=Stockfish 9 64 POP...

I could do a blitz test for v2.0.1 if you like, Folkert, but the exec you provided crashes instantly on startup here. Re: Why does Lets Check" in Fritz sometimes just show "New Engine"?

Let's Check recognizes only SF, Houdini, Komodo, Shredder, Fire, Gull, Rybka and the various Fritzes. Everything else, including SF derivatives like asmFish, Brainfish and SuGaR, shows up as "New Engine". The name recognition scheme seems to be based on straightforward string comparison. So you can ...

Re: New release: rofChade 2.1

It crashes the first time you load it , yes. You need to configure it to fill in the Sygygy path, then it works without crashing.

Hi im getting ucrtbase.dll error and engine crash on startup in Arena - windowws 7 Anyone else getting that?? It runs fine under CC on this Win 7 box. The ucrtbase.dll it accesses appears to be from the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable , which is a small free download. Your problem should ...

Re: My take on the whole "End of an era" thing.

Ethereal, Laser and Xiphos dead because they failed to produce an official release in the past month? This is a staggering notion, bordering on ludicrous.

Re: Celestial and Ozmania (source code)

Nice pairing, Abrok is nearly +900 Elo. ;) We have a presumably later version, rev4 (linked to on CCW), on our lists. I added it to the 40/40 list only last month. It has a curious bug: whenever an underpromotion occurs it tries playing an illegal move, which is often an attempt to move one of the o...

Re: Near-random movers

I don't expect that your rating for NEG in particular is wrong; more games probably would not help. It is just that all ratings in that region are totally off, as the Elo model tends to break down there. Conventional engines (i.e. alpha-beta searchers) are often that weak because they are buggy, an...

Re: Alouette 0.0.1

Whoa, that some quick work, Roland! 100 40/2 games vs. Sapeli RND with concurrency=4 completed in 1m 8s without a single error! Bravo! Now I just need to backport this to v0.0.3 -- since v0.0.5 scores over 90% vs. a random mover v0.0.3 should still be useful. So far I figured out that the following...
