Re: New Tool for Tuning with Skopt

I've run the script with my xboard engine, but I don't set usermove=1. I do get timeout errors loading the engine, despite it taking well less than 1 second and sending done=0 and done=1. Nevertheless, it runs anyway.

Re: New Tool for Tuning with Skopt

Looks interesting. Could you please say something about how to use it? :) Thanks! Right! Make sure you have an engines.json file, like with cutechess. Then simply run "python tune.py engine-name -opt OptionToBeTuned". If you don't already have skopt and python-chess you will need to run "pip instal...

I am afraid It is not your typical epd encoding, it has historical (dumb) reasons why it is not. It should still be pretty easy to parse just split every line at "|" and you can extract FEN and Game Result.
Thank you. I did a few search and replace operations, and now it's all set. :)

LTC tests passed. +289 =363 -211 +31.49 +/- 23.26 ELO. Nice.

Will soon test again with part of the CCRL data.

Smith Morra Bust?

18-year old USCF Expert Elijah Logozar claims to have refuted the Smith Morra Gambit. His mainline goes: 1.e4 c5 2.d4 cxd4 3.c3 dxc3 4.Nxc3 Nc6 5.Nf3 e6 6.Bc4 Nge7!? 7.Bg5 h6!{N} US Chess is offering an unspecified prize to the best counter-analysis submitted before Aug 15, 2019. Re: On-line engine blitz tourney June

What's BelFish? Some version of SF? As an unrated engine, it went 9-0 in the lower half of the tournament. Will be interesting to see it compete next month with a saner initial score.

Top Engines without Piece-Square Tables?

Are there any engines above, say, 2700 that have eschewed the use of piece-square tables?

Edit: Excluding neural nets.
