I would assume so. This net would need to outperform the NN that was trained with human games. Until then I dont think the net is saturated at all.

Running xBoard from command line

Hey,

I was setting up a google cloud instance the other day and did install xBoard. However, the xBoard -noGUI (and xBoard -noGUI=true) option didn't work at all. I always get the warning "cannot open display".

Did anyone get this to work or is this option bugged ?

Greetings

Robin

Re: Speed up arbitrary position search in database

he solution that immediately comes to mind is: hash code the position (Zobrist hash) and index the hash column in the DB. --Jon Would be my first choice too. I might be wrong but the reason this may not be used is that hashtables arent well suited for storing something on a harddrive/disk. Suppose ...

Re: LCZero update

Probably need to wait at least a week before those games become watchable :P Watching some of the training games hurt my eyes  Yep, but training games are not meant to be good yet, they are just meant to be fast. That's why they are played with a crippled Leela. True. However, over at LeelaZer...

Re: So Alpha Zero was a hoax?

Anyone who is working in anything remotedly close to science knows that you will never use smth like "it took ONLY 3 hours to..." and statements like that in any scientific-related paper unless you want to get fired. So seeing statement like this used in pre-print constantly, using old fish, provid...

Re: LCZero update

I was thinking - once LCZero is trained to a higher level, is it possible to train the weights to make draws less interesting? e.g. score draws as 0.3 instead of 0.5 to make it play more aggressively for a win? If it positively effects the performance then one might try that. However, I would stick...
