Re: Why No Chessbase News On Mark Watkins Article??

Amen to that. Could not the six moderators get together and forbid further discussion (if that word is indeed merited, which I doubt) on any TalkChess forum? The Grand Inquisitor (the main culprit in the torrent of verbiage) is, of course, a mod and he would object, but perhaps a majority vote migh...

Re: Why No Chessbase News On Mark Watkins Article??

On what possible grounds could a lawyer seek to force ChessBase to publish the opinions of Mark Watkins - or indeed any other person on the planet? It is a german company which has to obey german law. According to that there is a measurment in the "law for media" which roughly translates into somet...

Re: Vasik Rajlich Speaks!

Your last two sentences are nonsense. If ChessBase were to be unwilling to sell Rybka 5 at some time in the future on account of legal and public relations problems then it would certainly not be continuing to sell Rybka 4 as it does at present. In addition to Rybka, ChessBase sells Fritz, Hiarcs, ...

Re: Why No Chessbase News On Mark Watkins Article??

http://harveywilliamson.com/ICGA/Riis3.pdf Could it be the whole CB article was just cover, so they can sell Rybka 5? Totally biased company with no business ethics! Cordially, Sean Stay real, Sean... of course I would welcome it when chessbase would publish the ICGA & Mark Watkins response, but ho...

Re: elo rating

Hi, I am definitely a +2100 Elo chess player even though I didn't compete in rated human tournaments yet.... Dr.D You mean you think you are definitely a 2100 player. If people are asked whether they are below average, average, or above average car divers then more than 80% say "above average". It ...

Re: Vasik Rajlich Speaks!

So you are saying that you won't use Rybka 5 if you play serious chess (or are a professional which you make a living off of chess) and it has been found to be the strongest thing out with high quality analysis that all of you competitors are using? And even if you are constantly losing games becau...

Re: ICGA response to ChessBase 4-part article

Yet when the Grand Inquisitor himself initiates yet another unending spew of anti-Rajlich posts then the thread is put - and remains - on the main CCC forum. Is there any reason for this - other than the one that is obvious to all of us? Love it. Miss you. All the best, DJ! Belated new year greetin...

Re: ICGA response to ChessBase 4-part article

First, an introduction letter from David: Subject: The ICGA's rebuttal to Soren Riis's article on Chessbase.com re the Rybka scandal This week Dr Soren Riis posted a four part article on Chessbase.com in a somewhat belated attempt to defend Vasik Rajlich. Regular readers will recall that Rajlich's ...

Re: Ed Schröder retires from ICGA.

Ed hasn't competed in a computer chess in 20 years that I can recall. This is the typical "I'm taking my ball and going home" type of action. Not a first, as he left the panel in a huff as well. Everyone has the right to be a member of whatever organizations they want, or not be a member... Doesn't...
