Re: What got you into computer chess?

I wanted to learn programming and i thought a chess AI would bei a nice project. Just some kind of minimax and some ASCII figures to move around. Yesterday i took a look at the code again and the spaghetti factor is 10000.

Re: New chess engine '^2-chess' - release 1.1.0

Couple of requests, can you put the version number in the info string so we can tell versions apart? Do you have a logo? What country flag should I set ^2-chess? I added the version number to the uci command: https://gitlab.com/tsoj/squared-chess/tags/1.2.1 A logo can be found here: https://gitlab....

Re: New chess engine '^2-chess' - release 1.1.0

I let it play against Purple Haze 2.1.0 (1877 CCRL 40/4) and Claudia 0.5 (1900 CCRL 40/4) and it seems to be in the same range. Better than purple haze, maybe worse than Claudia.

Re: New chess engine '^2-chess' - release 1.1.0

I hope this gets rid of the time forfeits as well. I am currently getting every 7th game forfeited on time with version 1.1.0 under Arena 3.5.1. BTW, I see that the default hash size is 140 MB. If I set 256, will it be rounded down (or up?). The hash will always have a capacity of 2^n entries. That...

Re: New chess engine '^2-chess' - release 1.1.0

No problem, I thought that would kinda nice with the ^ but Gitlab had also problems with that. I made a new commit, now the binary that gets build is by default 'squared-chess' (the binaries of 1.1.0 are already called like this). I think the only part of the engine that has the ^ in it is the reply...

New chess engine '^2-chess' - release 1.1.0

Hi, i programmed a new chess engine in C++: https://gitlab.com/tsoj/squared-chess/tags/1.1.0 It has a lichess elo of around 2000. The engine will be sometimes online here: https://lichess.org/@/squared-chess . Accepts pretty much any standard challenge except correspondence chess. https://gitlab.com...

Re: A new chess engine: hactar

I only let it play a few times against PyChess.py and a random chess.com player. It seems slightly better than PyChess but not too much; there were one or two draws.
Also, it draws some games that are clearly won because I haven't implemented the 3-move-, and 50-move-rule yet.
