Re: CCRL update (4th April 2008)

Hi Graham,

Will the games be available for download? The download link from

http://www.computerchess.org.uk/ccrl/4040/

gives this message:

This is an interim "live" update, it does not include PGN files.
You can find the latest PGN files at our latest stable update

Re: SSDF results on a Quad 6600

You can have races between riders on motorcycles against riders on bicycles, and you can compile stats and stats about the results. But what does it mean? Nil because it is apples against oranges.

Re: SSDF results on a Quad 6600

When you integrate new engines to a list, then you have to use few engines to measure comparative strength. Otherwise, you will end up with an independently hanging list that has no correlation to the previous one. Somehow I don't like games where one engine has an enormous advantage at the start. ...

Re: SSDF results on a Quad 6600

Imho, they should have separate download files for each of the 3 categories: A1200-A1200, A1200-Q6600 and Q6600-Q6600.

I can see the statistical need to have Q6600-A1200 games, but they do not interest me because they were not played on level terms.

Re: CCRL update (28th March 2008)

I went to the monthly download pgns and downloaded March 2007. I made a name list of the engines in it and I noticed many that were released after March 2007. It seems this is bigger than I thought. And I didn't check Feb 2007 or Jan 2007. Some of the engines were Bright, BugChess2, Crafty, FireFly ...

Re: CCRL update (28th March 2008)

I hope the tester also checks other games he submitted to the 40/40 collection. Yes, we will try to find any other games and correct the date, although it's not a big issue Never said it was a big issue. Certainly 500 years from now no one will care. Actually, I don't care now. I'm just poin...

Re: CCRL update (28th March 2008)

Thanks for pointing this out. I've looked at this. The Firefly games were all submitted in March 2008, so you need not be concerned about the integrity of the list. They are genuine Firefly games. This is simply an issue of the date on the tester's newly built PC being 1 year out of date, and there...

Re: CCRL update (28th March 2008)

Hi Graham,

I noticed something that looks like a possible error in the 40/40 file.

FireFly 2.5.0 was just released in Feb 2008.

However all 42 games of FireFly 2.5.0 in the 40/40 file are dated from 2007.03.11 through 2007.03.15.

I hope this is an isolated incident.

Hi Werner,

Somebody shrunk the 40/400 download. The Rybka-Zappa games are missing!
