You may also want to check why Fire did not expect 16. Qxg2.

Re: Muller, Hyatt, Schroder and other elderly

I get what you are saying, but music probably wasn't the best example:

Perhaps investment banking....

BTW, I'm not sure what the point of young != wise was, as old != wise either.

Re: What engine is World computer chess champion?

At what time control? I think a more interesting/accurate question might have been: Do you consider Junior to be the current world champion of computer chess at long time controls? Yes/no. Honestly, I have no problem having multiple world champions based upon various criteria. Houdini could v...

Re: World Chess Computer Champion?

What a straw man argument. WHERE has the ICGA said any other WC is not legitimate. In fact, WHICH "other event" has even claimed to be a "world computer chess championship event?" Calling it a strawn man fallacy is a straw man fallacy. My comments are and have always been in response to the attitud...

Re: World Chess Computer Champion?

I'm a member of the ICGA. I know people in England, Canada, England, France, etc that are members. So that word certainly fits. By this standard, members of the Linux development community could form the International Open Source Operating System Association, and then claim all non-linux open sourc...

Re: World Chess Computer Champion?

The ICGA has no authority (except the faith placed in it by the individual) to declare a "World Champion" of anything. It does have the authority to declare an ICGA "World Champion" of something. Of course, that is still only worth the value individuals attach to it. Titles are like paper money, the...

Yes, I do. And I am fairly certain you have understood my point, though I can spell it out should you desire.

Re: World Chess Computer Champion?

You are missing the point. Hint: it has nothing to do with who was the World Champion from 1993 to 2005.

The question could have just as easily have been:

Who was the King of France in 1774?
Who was the King of France in 1793?

Why?

I do not understand what you mean by this.

But I will say I disagree with your choice of world champions.

As for the relevance to this thread, it has to do with perceived value. I guess you didn't see that, heh.
