Re: Has Stockfish NNUE reached it's limit now?

And in cccc, Classical lost to Lc0 in 2 pawns handicap. This is an amazing game, SF NNUE is quite clueless about it as well it takes a lot of hand holding to convince it white is actually winning after 23...dxc4, Leela sees it instantly. When you run the position after white's 23th move Stockfish t...

Thanks, I know how to configure the engines. What I don't know is what is a convenient GUI to run the matches with which doesn't take hours to learn the interface, is possible to pause mid match and preferably isn't just huge pain to deal with (like anything Chessbase or Aquarium for example).

Re: What is the better for chess: building a PC with 2 x RTX 3080 or with a Threadripper 3970x ?

I am (and maybe others also) interested to know if you run against each other the SF+NNUE on the Threadripper 32 cores and the Leela ver.0.26.3 with cuda-fp16 backendoptions on your RTX 3090 GPU with the present NET of Leela (J92-330) what will be the result? Intuitively SF would win as I run a lot...

Right now ThreadRipper would be stronger but you never know in a few years. You should also account for cooling. If you plan to run it for an extended period you might need liquid cooling + good fans and that will cost quite a bit. My setup is ThreadRipper 3970x slightly OC'ed and 3090 GPU. liquid c...

Re: AlphaZero vs Stockfish

Damn I was mislead by the bump and in shitty mood this morning. Thanks for pointing out it's an old comment. I am still bitter as hell about how Deepmind used chess for publicity showing no intellectual honesty and not giving players even a few thousand games. Still thanks to them we have Leela toda...

Re: Another Lc0 problem

Really, so developer of Leela should modify the source of Leela so that Leela can display even Depth = 1 PV line. Leela is rather slow relative to classical engine, so there is no any sense to restrict the displayed Depth for sparring resources and time. Man... As to the position Leela is hopeless ...

Re: AlphaZero vs Stockfish

It is exactly as ridiculous/funny as this entire book discussion. It is claimed that one Chess-playig entity was significantly 'handicapped' because it had to play some of the moves itself, rather than having them played on its behalf by a completely different entity that is supposed to be better a...

Re: Long analysis of some opening positions

Ummm...what isn't 'artificial'? The only thing that is not is results without even opening books or table bases. I don't know but "We will score 55% vs equal level opponent from here" sounds better to me than "we are ahead by 0.1 of a pawn". I don't think it matters much. I like % so I use it. If y...
