Re: GUI question: Asymmetric time control
...snipped lengthy 'Tueschenesque' paragraphs... You are manipulating quotes, I never said that. Where are the Mods, he fakes ... Okay, he's not a friend of extended multi-liners. Hi, Günther, if you sort out postings with a ruler, you can put a Tueschenesque label on it. "Schachfan" Rolf Tu...

Re: GUI question: Asymmetric time control
This is not from me, but from the original site https://github.com/cutechess/cutechess/blob/master/projects/cli/res/doc/help.txt I cite: tc=TIMECONTROL Set the time control to TIMECONTROL. The format is moves/time+increment, where 'moves' is the number of moves per tc. 'time' is time per tc (either...

Re: GUI question: Asymmetric time control
Generalized, I would like to test to what extent different time management has an effect on playing strength, because time controls have not only a quantitative aspect but also a qualitative one. BTW, if you want to play fixed time per move against other types of TC, there might be a trick to do th...

Re: GUI question: Asymmetric time control
I'm on Cutechess right now, studying the Cli-Commands. Oh dear, it says, "st=N set the time limit for each move to N seconds". This option can't be used in combination with "tc". So exactly the same as in all GUIs. Maybe only works with two computers, connected by cable or in a network. Or is there...

Re: GUI question: Asymmetric time control
WinBoard / XBoard allows you to specify time odds per engine, so that they get different times. I never saw any use for allowing the engines to play with different TC mode, though (e.g. sudden death vs. classical). Is there any use case for that? Nice that someone also asks the question of sense:) ...

Re: GUI question: Asymmetric time control
Hi Rainer! As far as I can see, it's not possible in Fritz and Arena. In Fritz you can add up to 200% for one side and in Arena you can define an engine's strenght in percentage. (Engine Management-Details-Special) Arena mangages this strenght-percentage by correcting the given TC for the chosen en...

Re: GUI question: Asymmetric time control
Ozymandias, Pferd and Matthias, thank you for your recommendations. As a dependent window(s)-junkie I always look for more comfortable alternatives before I go to the command line:) I discovered the Aquarium 2010 in my dusty collection. There is actually an option "Some time for both players", where...

GUI question: Asymmetric time control
Hi everyone, ATC, I thought that was a basic option. I am looking for a GUI where you can set individual time controls for each engine (UCI) in a match or tournament. So Shredder plays for example 40/20' and Stockfish with 5' Blitz. As far as I can see, it's not possible in Fritz and Arena. But it w...

Re: SEO
Interesting, but for whom? There are three groups: Cold to lukewarm interested people who first need a global overview of what's coming up under computer and chess. This group with my search example. Search routiners, from advanced to nerd. Their search is so sophisticated and special that they find...

Re: Regarding Talkchess update and features
Engine authors is an idea, but honestly... What I was getting at is that other methods of selling eyeballs to advertisers didnt disappear when these "easy" ad services took off. To sell space without making a deal with the devil, someone has to play the role of salesman. The salesman algorithm is: ...
