GGT. Stockfish 1.6 in a festive playing mood
In early November I've started my GGT (Great Gambit Tournament) with the best MP- Engines, on a longer time control. I'll report it in more detail somewhat later. Replacing now stockfish 1.5 with the new version 1.6, the Glaurung-Successor won at once his first Gambit round. Yes, of course, one roun...

Re: Stockfish 1.5.1
hello, you are faster in fixing a bug than I can post my report about it! Ok, into the trash with it and all we have to do is waiting for Jim Ablett. I had three time forfeits by hang-ups within 32 games and I was about to test several promising counter measures.., but of course I have to be happy w...

Annals of testing an elusive engine
I started testing the new Cyclones with version 4.0. It scored very good against stockfish1.4 and thinker 5.4Di and failed only with Rybka2.2n. But there was a mp bug, you couldn't use this derivative with more than two processors. A few days later the xTreme series came out, but this one and all fo...

Re: Lack of up-to-date engines
Is there anyone who knows the price for a Nalimov license? I've never heard that he charges for it, but I don't know for sure that he doesn't. The main issue seems to be that Dr. Nalimov would have to give up some control over his code to allow it in GPL applications. Oh horror, licensing agreemens...

Re: Shredder 12 infos and release date
What discount is applied for the community? Rainer you get the st command for free. No no, hidden commands are included in the price. What I've got for free from SMK is the wonderful UCI standard! And the community you must belong to, getting a discount? It's the shredder update community of course...

Re: Stockfish 1.5
Rush hour of the chess engines! Fritz 12, Shredder 12, Stockfish 1.5. The Stockfish Triad wrote a new source, Jim Ablett compiles at lightning speed and lo and behold, a new engine was born, well bedded into the world wide standard of SMKs UCI and into a smart GUI of your choice. In some way I feel ...
