Re: The St George
I have a book on the St George (Birmingham Defense or The Incorrect Opening which says it all......) by Basman. He was one of those who liked obscure and most likely unsound openings. I would echo the thoughts of most that it is a "surprise tactic" opening. IMiles used it in a game against Karpov.Dan Honeycutt wrote:He he. We posted at the same time. You are a bit kinder than I am.mhull wrote:He's playing a game with someone. This is the opening they are using. His opponent will be back in a couple days to begin play from this point.Sean Evans wrote:Hypermodern chess was written about by Reti many years ago. Why do you keep posting "Old News" ??

It is........wild to say the least.
Here is a very nice site that shows that game with comments.....it is very amusing.
