I just watched the end live. What a way to finish the match. Brilliant execution by Magnus.

But the beauty is that MC saw the whole thing before reaching this position. There were other "safe" alternatives (a draw would have been enough), but he went for the jugular with a couple of minutes on the clock.

So, are we just going to ignore that he went from a tablebase win to a draw in the second game?

(Personally, I had no clue how to do it. But, I'm not such a good player.)

Maybe that's why he was thinking that long during these rapid games ?

Not sure he saw "the whole thing", as in.. the mate-in-12 or so if black plays Bf8 instead of Kh7 😆
