Always always try the wayback archives first. Can't tell how often I suggested it here for each and every deceased computer chess link.

Is there a similar tool to connect a UCI engine over the internet, rather than over a LAN?

I have in the past used RTHomeserver with a no-ip dynamic dns but found using anydesk or teamviewer to connect to your Server/Desktop to access computer much more reliable with connection.

Isn't that the same thing?
I always use my own adapter, connect.exe, for that. On the machine with the GUI I use it as engine, on the side with the engine I instruct it to act as server for that engine. As long as the connection is reliable enough, this works fine. (No good when I was playing in the Olympiad in Yokohama, and wanted to use my PC in Amsterdam for the engine, though.)

Would you use Teamviewer in conjunction with RTHomeserver? I'm using it specifically for Aquarium and connecting engines from other machines to speed up the analysis.

On a LAN RTHomeserver works without doing anything too technical: you just tell it thehost the ip address of the slave machine (found simply by entering "ipconfig" in the command prompt etc.) and the host auto-connects. Over the net wouldn't you need a more complex procedure?hgm wrote: ↑Mon Aug 08, 2022 11:21 amIsn't that the same thing?

My ISP won't allow me to download your tool, but I'm changing ISP tomorrow so I'll try again.

Allow the RTHomeserver on both through the firewall to get access over the internet, but if your IP changes occasionally like mine you need something like this https://www.noip.com/Werewolf wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 7:09 pmOn a LAN RTHomeserver works without doing anything too technical: you just tell it thehost the ip address of the slave machine (found simply by entering "ipconfig" in the command prompt etc.) and the host auto-connects.
