On a slight side note - I would like to see more parameters exposed for experimentation. The settings that are optimal for blitz may or may not be optimal for longer time controls.

On the subject of identical opponents - this is one of the feature of our website I love, the ability to be able to compare - side - by side with all common opponents.

it seems default works better with this version (as other tournaments have shown with more significance.)

The style has not been tested and frankly I do not believe it would be stronger.

Starting with CT2007 (and including CT2007.1), Chess Tiger automatically switches to the "Gambit" mode when the positions it searches seem to favor a King attack.

This is done dynamically inside the search tree, it does not depend on the root position. So there are portions of the search tree that will be evaluated using the Gambit mode, a mode that emphasizes pressure on the opponent's King.

This explains that using the Gambit mode results in lower performance: if you use the Gambit mode by default, parts of the search tree are going to be evaluated with the Gambit aggressive mode, which gives too much weight to King attacks.

Using the Gambit agressive mode will result in part of the tree evaluated by the Gambit suicidal mode, which is... suicidal.

Could that be related to the style change in the search? As soon as the queen's are off CT2007 (CT2007.1 too) realizes that white position is bad at *very* low depth.
