test position from SCCT

Post by jdart »

This was played in an offline tournament run by Sedat Canbaz, Deep Fritz 10 vs. Zap!Chess Paderborn:

[D] 2q1r3/R1b3pk/2N2p1p/1P3b2/8/4p2P/4Q1P1/3R3K b - -

Zap!Chess played Bxh3, which is the best move here.

Arasan can find this after a *long* time. I think it is not easy, but was within reach for Zap!Chess on a quad machine at long time control.

Interesting position, but some weaker engines can find Bxh3 due to eval terms. Amateur, for example, never considers anything else. Glaurung also finds it quickly.

Do you get a + score for Black?

Fritz played Rc1 in reply and lost quickly. Rxc7 is a much better try but Black is still ahead after that.
