Hi all
Looks like Richard Lang finally decided to work more on his desktop version. I have been waiting like that for ever, ever since I first bought his program.
You can find the program here: http://chessgenius.com/pc/beta.htm
It is a free update to all registered users of Chess Genius 7.0 ,7.1.
It is only a beta version of 7.2 until the real 7.2 version comes out, which will be soon.
If I remmber it correctly Chess Genius was one of the first programs who defeated World Champion Gary Kasparov, long before Deep Blue did.
Lets just hope that Mr Lang continues to work on his program, it would be a shame if he stopped now, after this version.
Am definetely looking forward to future versions of Chess Genius after this release. All this waiting finally paid off, hope it did for You as well.

Chess Genius with polyglot/wbconv adapter
Thanks. It's a nice piece of chess program to tinker of - small but has many hidden secrets. I tested adapting polyglot using Fruit 2.1 and it worked (with the wbconv.dll on the fruit engine folder). I really didn't know that polyglot is a very versatile engine adapter. Now, I can play UCI and Winboard engines with this GUI.
This may not be new but I hope somebody could find a way to make certain utilities like "tail" to run in parallel to monitor more clearly the engines using polyglot in Chess Genius or any other way.

Re: Chess Genius with polyglot/wbconv adapter
To continue, I could only make a log file for Fruit 2.1 at the moment to check it using notepad++. At least it serves my purpose at the moment. But a running "debug mode" like in Arena will be much better.
I could only play short (low hash) games but it seems that the GENG7_1 engine plays better than Fruit 2.1.

Hi all,
I think it would be better to make Chess Genius a wb-engine too. So its easier to run it in another GUI against the other engines.
At the moment I make a match against naum2.1 w32 - inside Chess Genius GUI. It would be better in another GUI because I have no neutral and short book for this match and its not possible to use positions. Perhaps I will try to make a short book with the openings I want.

I don't think the actual engine has been updated at all. It appears to be the same size as the old engine.

Really? Is Chess Genius 7.2 that strong? More results please!Denis P. Mendoza wrote: ...
