Arena book for engine tournaments

Post by nuff »

Which is the best book for engine tournaments under arena. There is mainbook.abk and a superbook by dan corbit but is there a perfect.abk ? The perfect.ctg seems to be used by various testers but is that the best for engines? It is made from human GM games and so does not utilize the engine-engine games available.

On the subject of Arena, is a 2 coming out soon as the 1.99 betas have been out for a while?

The recommended (and officially sanctioned) opening book for use with Arena and any engine is Mainbook.

Perfect is another good book by Sedat Canbaz. You can find a version of Perfect.abk in the User Files section of the Arena website

The two books I'm using for my CCRL testing under Arena are:

HS-Book.abk which I can recommend for both tournaments, matches and gauntlets.

Xmas2640.abk which is a smaller book - excellent for tournaments, but not recommended for matches or gauntlets.

Although Sedat's Perfect 12.32.ctg book is fantastic, I wouldn't recommend the Perfect 10.abk because the B33 line occurs too often and leads very quickly to a White winning advantage well over 75% of the time.

Hope this helps,

Regards, Graham.

Hello Graham. I agree with your choice of books. I didn't know about
B33 line in Sadat.s book. Thanks for the info. Have you told Sedat
about that line.

Good luck, Gerold.
