Robert, can you post the entire game here? It´s hard for
our engines, I am curious about the continuation.

Thanks,

I really doubt any computer will try to open the G file (move 16) for an attack on the king side..etc.

Hmm... On my PIV 2.4 Chess Tiger 2007.1 prefers to castle with a balanced evaluation:

Code: Select all

00:16:32.4	0,12	21	571326343	O-O b6 Qg5 Kf8 Rfe1 Nec6 Qxd8+ Nxd8 Bf4 Nbc6 Bd6+ Kg8 h3 Nb7 Bh2 Bd7 Ba6 Nbd8 Bb5
Strelka 1.0 Beta castles too:

Code: Select all

18	12:15 549.419.959	747.510	+0,12	e1g1 b8c6 h4g3 e8g8 d2h6 e7g6 d3g6 f7g6 g3g6 d8f6 g6f6 f8f6 h6g5 f6f5 h2h4 c8d7 a1b1 b7b6 e2g3 f5f8 f1d1
When I force 1. g4, Chess Tiger 2007.1 thinks white gets into trouble:

Code: Select all

; 00:11:50.1 1. Score: -0,74 depth: 25 g4 b6 Qg5 g6 Qe5 Rh7 gxh5 Nbc6 Qg3 Rxh5 Bg5 Bb7 c3 Qd7 Nf4 Rh7 O-O Qd6 Rfe1 Kd7 Rab1 Nf5 Bxf5

Thanks by the game.
Until the move 18… Qd7 it is equal to Deep Fritz 10 Book, also 16.g4.
The move 9… Qxe5 is considered bad in the book. 19. f3 is the first
move out of the book.
I don´t know if the teory consider anothers moves instead
16.g4, but the programs don´t like it. :D

>>> but the programs don´t like it.<<<<

Yes, I know..that why it is a good test move... :D

Computers (as yet) can not "make a plan" to open the g file for an attack and later play..Rg1..etc.

Maybe someday they will...
Thanks for trying anyway...

That's what people often don't see, computers can't plan anything, and when it looks like they have, it's all based in search or rulebases et al.

Indeed, computers can't play chess in the fullest sense!

They are tactical monsters, which don't tire, with knowledge built in.

They simulate chess, not perfectly, but well enough to beat a GM when he or she slips up on some tactic.
