I hear a rumour that Zap will not play. So that could mean only 10 will play. Rybka will take some stopping but who would bet against an 11x world champion!?
Maybe Micro-Max is back in the top 10?

I Really hope so. Shredded used to be my favorite engine but unfortunatley the new versions couldn't keep up for a long time strength-wise.mclane wrote:or is there no chance ?

It's still has a great chance.

I think Shredder's great strength during its bright years was the successful use of reductions, the thing some wrongly call "LMR".
But it was its only strength, so now that everybody else is using them...

Difficult... but good luck!
I wonder what can be expected from GridChess which seems to be a kind of multi cpu Toga running on distributed clients. Whatever that means. The description does not mention the number of processors or cores utilized.
http://www.grappa.univ-lille3.fr/icga/p ... php?id=520
But it sounds impressive and probably must be considered a co-favourite.

Why no Hiarcs there?
Re: will Shredder be able to strike back in amsterdam ?
The short notice of the event was the main factor. Mark and I are unable to attend. If we use an operator then the entry fee is doubled to 1000 Euros.George Tsavdaris wrote:Why no Hiarcs there?
The total cost to play would be about 3000 Euros. All the publicity this year is going to the other event that ICGA is involved in the DF v DJ match.

Hello
This was the game vs Shredder, which I would have voted for as the game of the tourney:
[Event "IPCCC 2006"]
[Site "Paderborn"]
[Date "2006.12.29"]
[Round "6"]
[White "Deep Shredder"]
[Black "Gridchess"]

Of course Gridchess is improved, but so is Shredder. In Paderborn Shredder run on a Quad this time it is a 8way Xeon (but that difference is smaler than one would expect)
