Re: Hiarcs 0.6 v Fidelity Excellence 2-1

Post by Harvey Williamson »

Hi all,

Hiarcs had the pleasure of challenging a Fidelity Excellence 3Mhz 6502 (in
Excel Display housing) today. A big thank you to Steve for putting the
excellence into battle and taking the time to operate it.

Hiarcs was represented by version 4.1c (which I have named 0.6 to avoid
confusion with other H versions). This version played on the same hardware
it used in the 1989 Computer Olympiad, namely a 7Mhz 68000 Amiga 500
computer.

Fortunately, after a hard fought battle H came out the winner 2-1 after
losing the first game.

Nicely this sets up the potential clash of a Fidelity Mach 1 68000 12Mhz v
H. At 100nps it might be tough for H in that one so I request a clock adv of
double time to even out the h/w adv of the Fidelity.

I include the games played in pgn below.

I will write a report for the next SelSearch.

Best wishes,
Mark

hi Mark\Harvey

with His Excellency's win of the first game i was confident and certain that the Fidelity would coast its way to win the match thereby keeping the Chess Challenger's win streak alive at 3 -0 in matches against the Legacy Hiarcs versions

sadly however..H 0.6 had different plans and attacked his Excellency in games 2 and 3 relentlessly and without mercy

not accustomed to being manhandled in this fashion the Excellence could not cope and totally collapsed in shame to lose the next two games and along with it ..the match

as i NEVER allow a chess computer to remain in my collection (no matter how rare) after it loses a match i immediately drove to the local dump and tossed it off the tip(including original box, pieces ,manual and power adaptor)

i of course ACCEPT your match terms and agree to the difference in time allotments

if the Mach I(aka/Excel 68000) should lose this match it will meet the same fate as the Excellence

This Could Get Quite Expensive For Me Regards

Hi Steve,

Could you please play a match between your Novag Savant II and your TASC R40. After Savant loses, not only will I pay double your tip fees, but I'll pay for shipping the aforementioned unit to the southern hemisphere.

Thanks in Advance Regards
