Nice ..
But a few comments still :
1. You must drag the pieces .. sometimes when you have a lousy mouse or long moves you really prefer to click and drop.
2. Can't install any other engines (UCI WB ETC)
3. lack of options in GUI and no PV or score
But I do like the looks of it and its a very nice idea.
Thanks Dr. Cavicchio,

I also prefer 2D, but I understand his reasoning, and I have experienced this alienation from a real board, after working so hard over a 2D board.
Also, I agree with him that the 3D boards I've seen are too exaggerated. I think some of them can be tilted, right? But I don't remember one that could go this flat.

Delfi's board is cool, Fritz's 3d is the best!mongrel wrote:Read his rationale for this "2.5-D" board.

The 3D boards in Chessmaster can be tilted to any reasonable angle, from top-down to about 20 degrees, such as a small child might view a board.

I prefer the 3d boards in Chessmaster to Fritz which are too processor-intensive for my laptop, so the movement isn't smooth, even with the simple "modern" set. Although the chessmaster sets aren't photo-realistic, they are very fast and clear.
