Hi Wael

I have a question or two. I assume the Wizard EE is a personality for TheKing 3.23 engine and you're running it in Arena as a WB engine, since you say no adapters are used. How do you set up this engine to use personality settings and how do you force it to use 128 mb of hash? I can run TheKing 3.23 as a WB engine in Arena, but only with the default settings, and it only uses 2mb of hash.

Regards
Dave

Hi David,
Well,I realy don't use any kinds of adapters,damn,I hate these animals :D

Now,Here is my Wizard settings with 128Mb hash table:

The King 3.23 Wizard
cm_parm default\cm_parm myp=100 myn=108 myb=108 myr=108 myq=110 opp=100 opn=108 opb=108 opr=108 opq=110 mycc=104 mymob=100 myks=184 mypp=100 mypw=116 opcc=104 opmob=100 opks=100 oppp=112 oppw=104 avd=-2 sop=100 rnd=0 sel=12 cfd=0 md=99 tts=131072000 ttu=7

All you have to do is:
F11,New Engine,install The King 3.23 as a winboard engine....In the same installation window you'll see Special,click on it and then you'll see Init String....Just type these settings there and you're on....Don't forget to specify an opening book for it :!:
Hope this can help....

Thanks Wael, that does really help. To use 256Mb, i only need to change these two parameters ...

tts=262144000 ttu=8

Is that correct, or should i only change the "tts" parameter, and leave "ttu" at 7?

Hi Wael

I've always used the wb2uci adapter with Chessmaster engines. I will try your method, It seems to be working ok. But i am getting weird depth numbers in the Arena display, here's an example ...

CM9 Wizard:
3001 00:00 613 613 +0.05 Ng1f3 d7d6 e2e4 e7e5
3001 00:00 1.061 1.061 +0.08 e2e4 e7e5 d2d4 d7d5 d4xe5 d5xe4 Qd1xd8+ Ke8xd8
4001 00:00 2.496 124.800 +0.19 e2e4 e7e5 d2d4 d7d5 Ng1f3 d5xe4 Nf3xe5
4001 00:00 3.032 151.600 +0.20 Ng1f3 d7d5 d2d3 Ng8f6 Bc1e3
4001 00:00 4.323 144.100 +0.26 Nb1c3 d7d5 e2e4 Ng8f6 e4xd5 Nf6xd5
5001 00:00 6.081 202.700 +0.05 Nb1c3 Nb8c6 d2d4 d7d5 Ng1f3 Ng8f6
6001 00:00 20.411 145.792 +0.21 Nb1c3 d7d5 Ng1f3 Ng8f6 d2d3 e7e6 Bc1e3
7001 00:00 59.630 152.897 +0.02 Nb1c3 d7d5 d2d4 Bc8f5 Ng1f3 e7e6 Bc1f4 Nb8d7
7001 00:01 92.042 150.888 +0.13 e2e4 e7e5 Ng1f3 Nb8c6 Nb1c3 Bf8c5 d2d4 e5xd4
8001 00:01 188.445 151.971 +0.29 e2e4 e7e5 Ng1f3 Nb8c6 Nb1c3 Bf8c5 d2d4 Bc5xd4 Nf3xd4 Nc6xd4

Is there any way to get correct depth numbers?

Thanks
Dave

Hi again,
Change only the tts,ignore the ttu....
Unfortunately there is no way to avoid the weird depth numbers,but the engine and it's personalities will work just fine,don't worry :!:

Nope, that's how The King has always reported it's depth, which is why the CM GUI can display depths like 3/12.

You don't happen to know what the settings would be inside the CM GUI, would you?

There is an easy way to correct the shown depths and most people I know
use it ;-) Just let it be translated by Inbetween if it annoys you.

Guenther

an example:

Code: Select all

[InBetween]
Debug := 3
CommandLine := TheKing323.exe

[Client2Server]
; Set transalation of commands from the client here
; format word := translation
; hash and opk etc stuff here....
