Thanks Edsel, this version will play in Edition 6. :)

By the way, are you working on a new engine?I heard a rumor.

Thanks Edsel. Any luck solving the "losses on time" problem?

Regards, Graham.

The "loses on time" bug seems to have disappeared.

Hi Norm,

Thanks for confirming that it doesn't lose on time anymore. The problem it seems is in mishandling of signed and unsigned integers, but I'm not sure of this. I tried to compile my engine using C++ instead of C and it returns some warnings concerning conversions from unsigned to signed and vice versa. I'd fix them all.

To all amateur programmers out there, check your code for signed and unsigned integer conversions as it may cause a subtle bug in the program.

Check also for some complex expressions where there might be a divide by zero or an index that would cause an array overflow. In my experience, explicitly putting a parenthesis in the expressions helps avoid bugs.

Hi Swami,

This is the new engine that I'm working. The last release of my old engine is 0.099x. You may notice that my version naming convention has changed since then. It was the new engine that I'm releasing.

The strongest version I think is 0.099x as it is the less buggy and have more knowledge.

The new version is trying to catch up as I try to implement more knowledge especially in the endgame. This new engine will surpass the old one soon, before the year ends.

Try to compare the NPS of the new engine to the old one and you will notice a big difference.

By the way, thanks for including it in your tournament edition. The prediction contest is fun.

Hi Graham,

I have not played enough games to conclude that it doesn't lose on time anymore, but based on the games that this version and the versions prior to this played in the last couple of weeks, I have not noticed it crashing.

I hope what Norm observes is true so that I could already watch how my new engine would fare in the CCRL.

Hi Edsel,

I've put it into the Amateur Division 3 and also into the Fading Warriors v Rising Stars tourney, so you'll soon know.
Good luck in both! :P
