Opening Advisor

Post by AdminX »

Anyone knows how long into the opening does the Opening Advisor stay active? (5, 10, 15, 20 moves or more)

In general the feature seems to guide the play to sound opening positions, but I wonder if it also guides the opening toward positions that Shredder handles better or should I say positions that favor Shredder's style of play. I tested it in Arena against Rybka. I let Rybka use Arena's main book. While I gave Shredder no Opening book at all, just set it to use it's opening advisor. Shredder played the black pieces. Time Control 40/30 40/30 30 rest.

Positon after blacks 7th move. Shredder's 1st long think 59 seconds on Bc5.
[d]r2qk2r/1bpp1ppp/p1n2n2/1pb1p3/4P3/1B1P1N2/PPP2PPP/RNBQ1RK1 w kq - 1 8

Positon after whitess 8th move. Now Rybka was out of Opening book.
[d]r2qk2r/1bpp1ppp/p1n2n2/1pb1p3/4P3/1B1PBN2/PPP2PPP/RN1Q1RK1 b kq - 2 8

Positon after whitess 15th move. I think this was the key position where shredder went wrong. Here Shredder goes for the exchange giving up B+N for R+P.
[d]r4rk1/1bp2ppp/p3q3/1pbpPN2/6nN/1B1P4/PPP2PPP/R2Q1RK1 b - - 6 15

Positon after whitess 20th move. Just five moves have past and it is over for black, white went on to win.
[d]r4rk1/1bp2p1p/p5p1/1p1p1N2/3P3N/1B6/PqP1QKPP/4R3 b - - 0 20
