Re: Zappa Mexico
What is the version number of this update? I see nothing on www.shredderchess.com or in the download about a version number. The only info i could find is this ...
1) there is a new "contempt" parameter [- values = higher contempt]
2) Zappa plays a bit faster when it is low on time
3) three small bugs in the evaluation fixed
4) Mexico actually used about 10% less time than Zanzibar, and I reverted to the original value
5) "Auto" Thread parameter detects CPUs
6) Options to make Zappa print less information; print pv tips and Hide Fail Highs.
7) A few eval fixes based on my experience in Mexico. Nothing too dramatic.
Should this version be called Zappa Mexico, Zappa Mexico2, or ???.
Regards
Dave

Armando,
....and don't forget that both Rybka and Zappa have five letters and are both American chess programs programmed by Americans for the world to enjoy.

1.I have downloaded it, but havent extracted yet.
2.So i cannot even tell you if it will load in chessbase or not.
3.Meaning if it is named the same as the first version, it wont w/o name change.
4.But in that case- it wouldnt make much sense to keep 1st version loaded anyway.
5.Or would it?
6.As testers, are we going to incorporate results from it into results from 1st version?
7.As testers, are we going to test it as a different version of Zappa Mexico and have ratings for 2 versions?
8.Is the strength difference enough to make a shit either way?
9.Smart money says it's just another way to cause mass confusion.
10.I must go now- the doctor is calling me. Medication time.
Why Do I Bother With All This Regards,

Re: Zappa Mexico- From Stefan
Anthony has decided to keep the engine name and the file name the same, so
you have to rename the new file and add it with a different name if you want
to keep both versions.
Best regards
Stefan
Decision time? Think i shall wait till the pills kick in.

This unprofessional decision by Anthony will create confusion for paid users in the future, how to refer to this update in the future. There should be a standard name or version for all engines with differences. Examples are the Fruit updates, refered to by update date.geots wrote:Anthony has decided to keep the engine name and the file name the same, so

I think the one thing that we can all agree on is that if there is any unprofessionalism (is that a word?) here, or any mistakes have been made- they are not Stefan's mistakes and have nothing to do with him. Stefan is one of the most professional guys i have ever run across and he takes care of and conducts business in a way that should be a model for many. I know, Dave, that you did not say otherwise- but i just felt that needed to be clarified before i drift off into euphoria. (Dorothy says we arent in Kansas any longer. Where the hell is Toto? I cant find him)
Re: Zappa Mexico
I just renamed mine to Zappa_mexico fix, I didnt rename the exe file, as doing so made the engine exit unexpectedly. I just changed the name on the arena window instead.
