1) I don't think that Crafty version existed 12 years ago.
2) I don't think Gothic Vortex was SMP, and even if it was CPU's with 20 cores must have been really rare at that time.
3) Clock speeds might also have been a bit lower, then.

Yes, I now see that I responded to posts from
2007.
Why supersharp77 decided to resurrect a twelve-year-old thread is beyond me, but I should have paid closer attention to the dates.
I agree about clock speeds and Crafty versions, but would like to point out that my search was not multi-threaded; I used mt = 1.
