That's the user's asking price. He more than likely has seen old systems sell for more and think he has something worth more ...

Mr. Basham,

$4.99 would be a more realistic price. I might pay up to $49.90 if I got free shipping.

Tj

This one is rare and is from the first production run - note how the algebraic notation is incorrect - 1- through 8 for the files , a through h for the ranks - this was corrected in subsequent production runs.

It has been estimated that maybe 125 cc1 's have survived and are working - this one - serial number 30499 is the 52nd known cc1 to have survived and it appears to be in working order. Without the box, Iwould not go over $600. Since the asking prices is so close to market value , it may not attract any bids until near the end of the auction.

Hi Mike
loooong time no see
sheesh ..you would think that one when of the legends of the CCC..three time moderator MikeB(and all time cumulative vote getter in CCC elections).. posts here after a long absence .. there would at least be some confetti or a band playing or something
:P

i would guesstimate that from the 1000 sold about 200 CC1's are still in existence and in working order
just judging from the frequency they appear on Ebay and also from the fact that virtually every collector i know has a working one
still..a very small number

V.I.P Regards

This computer does not appear to come with the original box or any manuals. It does not appear to come with the original (or any) pieces either, so I think it is overpriced.

Hi Bill
25-30 chess computers is certainly a nice collection
fairly amazing that you found two CC1's in your buying spree

Well Done Regards
